It's just about time! Our annual Thanksgiving luncheon will be from 11 to 1 on Thursday, November 14. Culinary students are busy prepping! We hope you'll be able to join us! It's $10 for adults. Tickets are sold at the door.
Today our Auto Tech program got a brand new Toyota Corolla! 🎉The car will allow students to work on state-of-the-art electrical systems and to receive the same training as Toyota's techs. This will open doors for them to go to work at a Toyota dealership after graduation! Thank you, Janzen Toyota and Gulf States Toyota for this gift!
Sometimes the student becomes the teacher! Facilities Management student Cantrell taught a lesson on three-way switches today. 💁🏻♂️💡
A few weeks ago, our construction trades students were fitted for work boots, and today was the day they each got to bring home a brand new pair of boots! A big thanks goes to Stillwater Home Builders Association and Atwoods Ranch and Home for this donation. Thank you for supporting our students! #bootsontheground #meridiantech

Today's #TalktoEmTuesday features Melody Johnston | Business Technology How long have you taught? My first year of teaching was in 1991. What did you do before teaching at Tech? I’ve pretty much always been in education. I’ve taught in public school, private school, junior/community college and CareerTech. How did you become interested in this industry? In college, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Secretarial Science. This was when personal computers were entering the business world. I caught on to how they worked. My friends would ask me questions about using them. That’s when I realized that it was actually fun teaching people about computers. That’s when I decided to go into business education. I’ve always enjoyed helping people and using technology. I kind of combined those two things together and made a career out of it. What projects do students enjoy most in your program? I love that I get to teach students skills that they will use. We use a personal finance simulator where students have to create a resume, find a job, budget. They have life events that happen and they have to figure out how to make things work. It’s real life! Visit our link in bio for more information on this program.
It’s like Christmas morning for new students in Evening Cosmetology! New tools. New skills. New career. Welcome to Tech!
