March is Women's History Month and I MUST recognize my mom for showing me how to BREAK glass ceilings π¨ β β β β β β β β β In the 1970's she left her home country of Japan π and moved to Kenya π where she learned Swahili as her 3rd language. β β β β β β β β β She landed a job at Mitsubishi and met my dad through a co-worker. My dad said he fell π for her because she was DIFFERENT. π₯ β β β β β β β β β Fast forward to life in America, she worked for a Japanese paper company. π She consistently was underpaid because of her gender π©π» and she told me that's just the way things were. β β β β β β β β β She encouraged me to push the envelope and be different. β β β β β β β β β She always told me if I wanted something, nobody was going to give it to me and I better go and get it myself. β β β β β β β β β Life lessons I will pass onto my daughter. β β β β β β β β β Let's celebrate the women that have paved the way for us! β β β β β β β β β Who is your hero? I want to hear ππΎππ»ππΎππ½ππΏ

Who said it? β β β β β β β β β "Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: the potential for greatness lives within each of us." β β β β β β β β β In celebration of BHM here is a fun fact! β β β β β β β β β Wilma Rudolph was born premature and as a child suffered from sicknesses like polio and pneumonia. Doctors said she would never be able to walk without a brace. β β β β β β β β β Through discipline, determination + physical therapy, she was able to walk without assistance, then run and run she did. β β β β β β β β β ππΎββοΈIn 1960 she became the FIRST AMERICAN woman to win three gold medals at a single Olympics π₯ β β β β β β β β β She fought poverty, racism, sexism and lead by example. Celebrate in your own way this month but celebrate Black History Month! β¨ β β β β β β β β β #wilmarudolph #bhm2021 #getempowered
