I wish you could see what it took to get this photo. That’s what happens when you’re the only photographer in the group. And of course all I could see was my double chin. That’s not what this post is about though. No one cares about my double chin hahah It’s about my shirt. Long Live Small Business. 100% of the proceeds go to the @freelancersunion relief fund. Go to @nataliefranke’s bio for the link to buy your own!

Because Covid is a dirty rotten bish, my summer is looking pretty boring. I'm looking for 2 families and 1 couple to model for me. You'll get a free session (around an hour) with edited images! Here's what I'm looking for! 1. A family with a few older kids. All family members must be in to hanging out, laughing, hugging each other, etc. (No one younger than 8 yrs.) Location will be in Franklin 2. A family with a mix of kids ages. (Aged 6 months +, no tiny babies). Once again, I need all family members to equally participate and be flexible. Location will be in Bargersville. 3. A couple. Both people need to be willing to participate, have fun, PDA, etc. Location will be Broad Ripple. *I would prefer new humans. No offense past clients! :) All people will be responsible for their own clothing, I will help though! Be prepared to wear colorful outfits! Sessions will all take place close to sunset, and more than likely on a Thursday or Friday evening in July. No weekends. Priority given to BIPoC and LGBTQ* EMAIL ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTED: hello@katydavis.co 📸: Taken by my 8 year old in our front yard, hahah

6 years ago I know for a fact I said “all lives matter” and when Kaepernick took a knee in protest, I was offended. Oh how wrong I was. I had no idea I was wrong. I couldn’t believe it when I read BLACK LIVES MATTER. I remember thinking “Of course they do! Who would think they don’t?!” I remember thinking racism couldn’t be so bad that he had to kneel. And that was my white privilege showing. Privilege I probably also didn’t think I had. People get so uncomfortable when they hear white privilege. AND YOU SHOULD BE. Being in uncomfortable situations changes you. It should make you want to work harder to change that statement. It’s real (unfortunately), and if you are white, you have it. It means that, as a white person, you don’t have to deal with negative assumptions being made about you based on the color of your skin. I grew up in a house where I was taught that all lives truly mattered, but my house isn’t the only house. The way I was raised, the way I think, the way I talk, are not the only ways. I am not the center of the world. Not everyone was taught that or thinks that way. And that’s why we have to, no NEED to, say “Black Lives Matter”. So now I’m learning, and I know I won’t get it right. I know I’ll say something wrong, but I can’t and won’t stay silent. I will use that white privilege to raise up the voices of my Black brothers and Black sisters. (Art by @tyler_elise) #blacklivesmatter #amplifymelanatedvoices

I haven’t posted on my feed in awhile. Mostly because I haven’t really had anything to post, but also because everything seemed silly. Saturday I went back to work. Although, I can't actually claim this as work. It was easy. It shouldn't have been, right? They had to replan their wedding for a later day in October, and pull this backyard wedding together. So it shouldn't have been easy, but it was. The 3 hours I was with Emilee and Nate were EASY. Simple. Full of love. And that's what a wedding day should be. #katydavisphotography #covid19 #backyardwedding
