The kindness of insta friends has no bounds. The loveliest thing happened yesterday. My insta friend Donna (whom I’ve never actually met, although mutually followed for many years due to our love of dogs and pretty things and whom I regularly chat to.. about our animals) unbeknownst to me arranged for Emily @_finelines to do a portrait of our dear little Buffy after she passed away. It was a month ago yesterday. . When our postie arrived yesterday with it I was beyond shocked and obviously sobbed, not just from seeing our little girl painted so beautifully but also for the incredible kindness of my insta friend Donna @donna_holley and her husband Steve for their beautiful gesture. Words don’t seem enough. Thank you so very much to both of you both 😘🐶🥰💝😘😘 . We are beyond grateful. It’s just so beautiful and has brought us so much comfort. When I walk up the stairs to bed at night I’ll be able to give her a kiss or pat on my way. It’s the little things .. 🐶💗 . And thank you Emily for capturing our little girl Buff Buff so beautifully. The likeness is just incredible! Shows her beauty, innocence and warmth of heart just perfectly. And the head tilt... so Buffy. You are very talented. . Di 💝

Hi friends. Thank you so much for all your beautiful comments to my post last night re Buffy passing away yesterday. Over 300 comments. Lovely to see that she was so very loved by not only us, but people all over the world. I’m gradually responding to each and every one. May take some days. Thank you all so much for your kindness at this time. It’s been healing to us reading through them all. You all know how much she meant to me personally, my husband David, our families and friends. I took this video last month for my mother when we were getting ready to go for a walk. Now I’m watching it with new eyes. Buffy was so full of life till the very end. Well until last Friday when things turned into an event she wouldn’t be able to come back from. I’ve turned comments off for this. No more needs to be said. She was the best little puppy ever. Will miss her forever. Di x

This morning at 9.35am our darling little girl Buffy passed away. I haven’t cried all day as I knew the moment I started, I wouldn’t stop. So here I am writing to you with tears running down my face. I think I’m still in shock. No idea. Just know I have this ache deep inside which won’t go away. I guess that’s what heartbreak feels like. . I know so many of you loved Buffy too, hence sharing this news with you today. Buffy will be remembered for her unique personality (of which we know she had loads!), her demanding behaviour (she had a knack of clearly showing what she wanted and getting it asap), her temper tantrums (when she wanted a smacko -her fave tweet), the way she loved to run skipping like a spring lamb through the grass, her ability to make any photo look good, the way she put in the sweetest smile for her daddy and my dad when she wanted them to do what she wanted (Both pushovers re Buffy). She was full of life till the end and had a heart of pure gold which would make anyone who came in contact with her do what she wanted, including the postman :) . She was my constant shadow, my little friend, surrogate daughter and bodyguard. She’s barely left my side since I retired Botticelli House. . It wasn’t the pituitary tumour which got her in the end. Over the past few wks she developed an aggressive inoperable tumour in her throat. Cancer spread. It was sudden & fatal. We made the difficult decision this morning to send her to rest. She was ready to go to heaven. . My husband David, our families and close friends cherish the 11 years we were fortunate enough to have with her. We got her from the RSPCA when she was relinquished at 1yr in a pretty bad state. She turned 12 last Sat. . She had a beautiful life with us, has been through much and was so loved. She’s brought us and so many people from all around the world so much joy with her antics. We are so grateful that she chose us. I’ve included some of my fave photos of Buffy here to remember her by. Please leave a note as to what you loved about Buff. I’ll read them all, plus where you are from. Thank you x . Soar high my beautiful little girl. I will miss you forever. You are irreplaceable xx

The sweetest thing happened yesterday... ❤️ . Our postman drove his motorbike up to the front door and said “Here you go, your husband has been busy buying things again”, we laughed (as it’s so true. He’s always buying things off the net) and handed me a few parcels. Then he said ‘Oh I’ve got a little something for Buffy if that’s ok” and reached into his bike pack and pulled out 1/2 a smacko stick for her! Of course Buffy was straight onto it as it’s her fave treat, ate it in one big (very embarrassing gulp) and then gave him what we call her ‘special Buffy coy smile’ which she normally only ever reserves for my husband when she wants something and for her grandad (my dad) whom we call Pa. I don’t even get that smile. Mind you, she has those two firmly twisted around her little paws believe you me. . So here we have this photo from today. Buffy patiently waiting to hear the postman’s motorbike zoom up the street. He’s always pretty much on time. Sadly, no parcels. Instead mailbox drop today. She was so furious.. I’m sure he heard her super annoyed barks as she ran out to the front gates at full speed whilst he drove up the street. Talk about ungrateful.. 😂 . #RandomActsOfKindness #DidntEvenKnowHeKnewHerName #MeetsPostmanAtGateEveryday #PostieThinksShesCute

Tonight: Yes she’s grinning from one bobbed ear to the other... And for a very good reason! 💗 . Apparently, Maltese-cross dogs are the most popular dog breed in Australia and Buffy (being just that) had the absolute honour of being the Maltese-cross face for the @couriermail article today in case you haven’t as yet seen it. . Thank you Kylie @kylielang for the opportunity of featuring Buffy. I can only wish that you had the time to include your Maltese-cross Chloe in the photo as well. She’s such a little beauty 💝 . See insta stories for the Courier Mail article and @kylielang for photos of little Chloe. Di 💙

Little Buffy poising like a super model late this afternoon 🌸 Hope this photo is a welcome distraction from the sad news that constantly surrounds us... 😢 . We’re starting Buffy on her Cushings Disease medication tomorrow now that we have her seizures under control. I’m hoping it delays her symptoms from both this and her pituitary tumour which are sadly becoming more apparent.

My view tonight. Home. Our own little personal sanctuary. Where we are fortunate enough (and very grateful) to live. We feel very safe here. What everyone should feel in their own home and community. Although, with the past few weeks of bushfire disasters (which has become somewhat of a humanitarian crisis) there are so many 10’s of 1000’s of Australians tonight who are displaced in evacuation centres, have lost their homes or don’t know if they even have a home to return to. Many on holidays celebrating the holiday season. Their every day normality has suddenly/unexpectedly become a new reality of unfathomable heartbreak. . What I really worry about is the aftermath. Even if insured, the days ahead are a hard road to travel. I know, from experience. I’ve been there. Proving claims to insurance companies. Finding accommodation. Feeling immensely grateful for those who offer you a bed till settled. Trying to work when you have so much on your plate already. It’s a hard path to travel. . If you have 1 or $5 dollars to spare a great place to start giving is to @redcrossau. Every dollar adds up very quickly. You only have to see @celestebarber account to see what a difference it makes. The Australian Red Cross really do help the people affected who have nowhere else to go. I couldn’t think of a more worthy cause in the current climate everyday Australians find themselves in. . First blooms of 2020.. The Children’s hybrid tea rose. We planted a few bushes a few months ago and they continue to deliver regular long stemmed blooms. Happy new year and decade! Yet to write 2020 but it does have a certain ring to it. My thoughts are with those affected by the bushfire crisis in Australia tonight. So sad. Terrifying actually ❤️🌸❤️ #CommentingTurnedOff #HopingForRain #TheyNeedIt #OrAPrayer #WantedToSayHappyNewYear but not engage. Hope that’s ok. Di 💙💙💙

Same but different.. 💗 Backed up yesterday for the traditional Boxing Day lunch. Candle swap out, clean tablecloth, cute condiments chooks and paper napkins done the way my mother did them when we were little kids. Always felt so festive and fun. Beautiful part of my childhood memories for special occasions. My mum was, and still is, the queen of table settings in my book. ❤️ . As an aside, Boxing Day is normally leftovers in our home, but my husband suddenly decided to ‘enchant’ our guests by getting busy cooking up some of his ‘signature dishes’. We won’t tell him, but I didn’t know he had any (🧐) as he only ever cooks at Christmas. I was wondering what these actually were as I haven’t seen him in the kitchen since last Christmas. . So while I was busy clearing up the table and dishes after lunch, he was busy lapping the compliments re his magnificent cooking skills.. He received a 10/10. Amazed. But I should add, they didn’t get desert until they rated. I should remember that snappy little trick. 🤗
