Walking the grounds of ACRE Baja the day after the wedding and appreciating the mess of confetti before the cleanup crew arrives. Watching the sunrise, drinking my coffee, appreciative of this job and on my way to go visit a half dozen of Acre's rescue puppies. Not bad. Not bad at all.
This simple and elegant arbor from Katie and Kevin's wedding takes me back to the happiness I found designing the tipi for my own wedding. It's incorporating your own creative touches in the day that makes wedding planning so much fun. I'm so thankful I get to see everyone's creative energy actualized on a regular basis. More in my blog on this wedding today LITB.
Waking up to the sound of the birds and the wrestling wind in the palms. Today will be good day shooting Kevin & Katie's wedding. Sometimes I get overwhelmed before shoot a wedding. The more awesome the location the more restless I am. I want to be everywhere all at once and have 6 cameras and 6 sets of eyes! But slowly as the day unfolds I become more in the moment and do what I can do make the best images I can with my little team of 2. Do any of you other wedding photogs relate to that?
My husband trying to make the best of this time we have before beginning our work day. Poor thing get's dragged along to all of these hot places! A quick walk around the property as the sun goes down and the guests are seated. A few quiet moments, just the couple and Josh and I (oh yeah and these bulls) making some images and sharing some laughs. More on my blog Link to all of the highlights in my Bio.
How's this for a stunning set up? a grove of mango trees. Rows of tables and a setting sun in the lush valley that Acre Baja sits within. A peacock walks on by and the music turns up. This will be a night to remember! #baja #sanjosedelcabo #acrebaja #traveldeeper #alwaysgo #sheexplores #treehouse #mexico #stayandwander #thewanderfolk #letsgosomewhere #ig_mexico #travelblogger #vacationideas #exploremore #finditliveit #intimatewedding #tropicalwedding #keepitwild #keepexploring #liveoutdoors #mexicowedding #caboweddingphotographer #adventurewedding #destinationwedding #destinationweddingphotographer #loveauthentic #radlovestories #engaged #shesaidyes
A real first look can't be directed. Once people stop worrying about where they need to stand and all of the camera pointed at them everything melts away and you get this beautiful tenderness.
This is what I call hotel for the night. The guest accomidations at Acre are beautiful treehomes perched high above a forest canopy of palms. I've never seen anything else like it and I assure you the rest of the property is equally as stunning. For more on this venue and the wedding head over to my blog and check out Katie and Kevin's shindig. Extra link to my personal travel there as well.
Acre rescues pups from the streets every year. Look at this face! Gah... this will be where we get our puppy from one day when the time comes.
Mexico weddings hold a special place in my heart. It is something I didn't expect about moving to Orange County. Getting there is a simple and affordable Southwest flight and magically I am transported to a destination that speaks to my heart. There is surf, great food, and beautiful varied landscapes with warm oceans. Manifesting that 2020 will bring me a few more trips down there!
I mean is this just so beautiful or what? My eyes are loving all of the heights and layers put together at the pool for this cocktail hour. So many awesome textures and colors/shapes to take in and so much merrymaking going on around me. The cocktails aren't bad either. What's new on my blog this week? A rundown of Katie and Kevin's wedding at ACRE in Baja. This is a wedding for all those who think Mexico, fireworks, puppies, and plants are king. Is that you? I thought so! Click the link in my bio to head over and check out all of my favorite images!
My clients last week were real babies. Haha. Okay this is why you photograph nuggets at 2 weeks old. Cause they’ll never sleep like this again for the next 3 years! Also let me just Bragg about @amandakay_14 for a minute. She birthed this child in her bathroom at home (not the plan and so bad ass) I am in total respect of her womanly confidence. Handled that and went to sleep in her own bed that night. No hospitals! That is a superstar mother!
This is a symbol of what's up with me right now. It's always a transforming time of year. Just finished delivering my last wedding of LY and deciding what directions to rake this year. Where I put my energy and marketing, and where I point my compass in the next 2 months decides where I will go. I'm excited and nervous as always but behind me there has been nothing but a great adventure. Can't wait to meet the unknowns and see the unseens. 2020 let's roll!
My friends tell me that there is a season of life for everything. For self exploration, for falling in love, and now most recently for motherhood. Having a newborn is a short season of life. I'm enjoying being a little bit older in the wedding photography game and seeing the people who I watched say vows to one another grow in ways we knew would happen but not fully understand. I'm working on sessions from last week and finding a lot of happiness in the work that I do. It feels small (in a good way) and it feels important. @devankane
I like clean composition and I have been more mindful about looking for a color story in the weddings that i shoot. Keeping this in mind from the first frame to the last makes such a big difference.
One thing that I really liked about Jarod was that he took some time for himself. Having a stylist work on his hair and pamper him a little bit too. I feel like guys never get this kind of treatment and really need to start incorporating it into their wedding day.
Follow along my journey! I shoot weddings for young sun seekers...for the people who prefer no roof over their head. Those who know that soul in a picture means more than a perfectly sculpted location or dress. That’s why I say I am a photographer for the wild at heart. I’ve become friends with so many of my clients. They are the people that makeup huge part of my life story, and I feel so much gratitude knowing that I have also been chosen to tell a part of theirs!
Emilee and Grant cruising off, searching for some trouble.
Today is the day! Heading up to LA to do some family sessions and I'm looking forward to catching up with Devan and Alex to meet their new baby girl tomorrow. It seems like just yesterday we were shooting their wedding and now two have become three.
