  • Old and new. Development feels like it is constant when living in the suburbs of a large city. Kanata is no exception. The first photo is around an 8 year old development that ends at a natural wetland. If you spin the drone around 180 degrees however you'll see that the pace of development continues. At least some of the forest in the distance will remain. Bonus points: Can you figure out what school is in the first photo from the clues and landmarks given.   • Doing some #socialdistancing with Elmo. 😁 Finally got a little bit a decent weather today so I hopped on my bike and found some space by myself to enjoy the fresh air and take Elmo on a few flights. There was a strong wind out so flight times were definitely reduced as a result. I managed to go through all three of my batteries in 30 minutes.   • Welcome to my first post in a COVID-19 world. The COVID-19 pandemic is a global concern and social distancing most be taken seriously. Luckily drone flying is a good social distance activity since you are not able to fly in built up areas or near the public. For this flight we ventured deep into Lanark County in search of Baird Trail. This trail consists of a managed forest, swampland and a few boardwalks. We are still coming out of winter here in Eastern Ontario so there was some snow and ice on the ground but air temperature was at least slightly above zero.     Welcome to my first post in a COVID-19 world. The COVID-19 pandemic is a global concern and social distancing most be taken seriously. Luckily drone flying is a good social distance activity since you are not able to fly in built up areas or near the public. Decided to the the done up after completing shoveling and flooding of the outdoor rink I maintain. ⛸️❄️ I didn't end up flying for as long as I wanted because both the GPS and compass were acting up which required me to control the drone manually without any stabilization. The conditions were about -10C with a slight wind which may have been contributing factors. The joys of attempting to fly in colder temperatures. Where the current houses end is an extensive wetland where several endangered species call home. Just beyond the wetland is a large area that is due to be developed in the future.
