Last Saturday we had the chance to introduce our CleanCo colleagues to the new #recycling system on campus. Our goal is to ensure that every member of the AUS community understands the importance of recycling and knows which items belong in the recycling bin. #ausrecycles #communityengagement #recyclingeducation #reducereuserecycle #beeah #campusrecycling #wastemanagement #wastereduction #wasterecycling

Developing good habits is a big part of Ramadan, which is why we are introducing to you the idea of ‘A Green Ramadan.’ There are several actions we can take as individuals that will eventually lead to a large collective difference. These actions include avoiding food waste during iftar time, conserving water during Wudu (ablution), or even donating unused items to those in need. #ramadankareem

"Knowing that small things like composting food waste at home, taking fewer minutes to shower, and walking to places rather than driving, when I can manage it, have made me feel more in control of my actions and positive about who I am. They've also led to some lifestyle changes that have made me a healthier person for both the environment and myself. Taking part in bigger projects and competitions is a part of sustainability, but it is the changes you make on a individual level that create a bigger difference! This is why I challenge you to make a small change in your life to become more sustainable, and tag three other friends to do so in the comments below!” - Vini Rupchandani

“Climate change is not happening to someone else, somewhere else, in the distant future, but to us, right here and right now”, says Nataša Kalauz, WWF Adria CEO. This #earthhour we encourage you to speak up for nature and sign the “Voice for the Planet” petition organized by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). "Being a Muslim, I've incorporated sustainability in my life by inculcating respect for other living beings, encouragement of growing trees and plants, and curbing food and water wastage. These habits have helped made me feel grateful for what I have, spiritually fulfilled, and increased my ability to empathize with the lesser-off" - Mohammad Amaan Siddiqui

“Sustainability is no longer a buzzword you hear on talk shows nor is it just on a politician’s agenda. Sustainability needs to become our way of life, if we’re looking out not only for our future, but for the future of our children and their own children. We’ve done enough damage to this world that most of it is no longer fixable, which leaves us with prevention measures that can help elongate the life span of our planet as much as possible. The quicker you realize this, the better it is. Anything from recycling waste to consuming less plastic to conserving energy can truly help us try to save our planet. I was brought up learning to switch the lights off when I leave a room and to make sure I recycle my waste, but today, I’m looking at even more ways to lead a sustainable life. Offsetting flights through global platforms and removing plastic waste in the packaging of our U-Light (@ulight2020) products.” - Omar Ghanem, AUS Alumnus
