Weāve attended a few protests in the last couple of weeks, and each time Iāve found myself reminded of the power of photography. I am so moved by the intersection of art and activism- itās a reminder that we all have a unique voice, and that voice is needed now more than ever. So thank you to the artists, graphic designers, videographers, and photographers who are using your talents to stand up against white supremacy and police brutality. Thank you for speaking directly to peopleās souls, and for documenting what I hope will be a pivotal moment in American history. May these works of art capture the time we said: no more.

In an attempt to show solidarity, I posted a black square earlier. However, as I listen and learn, Iāve realized that despite my intentions, the black box is not productive on its own, nor is it fully communicative of the truths that need to be spoken. I may not have all the words (nor will I ever), but I do have the words to say this: Black Lives Matter, and our justice system needs critical reform to reflect the value of these lives. While I donāt want my voice to be the loudest on this issue, I certainly want my voice to be clear. I recognize my own benefit in systemic injustice, and I am committed to actively fighting racism on a personal and national level. Today and everyday.

This past weekend I got to pick up my camera again for the first time in a while and capture one of my favorite things to photograph: a proposal! It was so fun to scheme with Michael as he came up with the perfect plan. I couldnāt be happier for these two, but now Iām itching to be out there (safely) shooting again! Hereās to a great summer ahead and hopefully many more evenings behind the lens.
