If you’ve ever photographed a wedding, you know how absolutely chaotic and time consuming family portraits can be. Even though there are a number of moving parts, they don’t have to be stressful. It starts with YOU! As a photographer, it’s YOUR responsibility to communicate with the bride and groom to ensure efficient family wedding photographs. Here’s 2 quick tips to quicken the family portrait portion of a wedding day: LISTS: Ask your couple to create a list of ALL the photographs that need to be taken during family portraits. We also suggest having your couple listing the first names of everyone in each photograph to alleviate the confusion. THE WRANGLER: Ask the couple to delegate someone who knows both sides of the family, usually a close friend or sibling. While you’re directing each photograph and shooting the current group, the wrangler can be tracking down the people on deck and making sure they’re right there ready to hop in when it’s their time to smile. You may not know who Uncle Alan is… but the wrangler sure will. 😉 Anyone else have any fave tips for wedding day family portraits?! Tell us know below! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
WEDDING PHOTOGS: WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO SHOOT A WEDDING? 👗👚👖 We get asked that a lot. It’s a common question. Our biggest priority: COMFORT. There’ve been times where we’ve accidentally worn the wrong attire to a wedding, whether that was the wrong shoes that made our feet ACHE LIKE HECK by the end of the night, or a dress that was super cute but just a bit too short…. Any ladies feel us on this one? Haha. The wrong outfit can have your mind thinking, “Am I going to pop outta my dress or are my pants going to rip?” Those thoughts are mega distracting when your focus should be on your couple, amen!? The LAST thing you want to do is break focus! One of our students asked this question in our online course FB group recently and there were a bunch of helpful responses on what people’s go to wedding day outfits and shoes were! So we thought we’d share them with you! ▶️ Jumpsuits are a MUST in your wedding wardrobe + MANY of our students prefer a simple black jumpsuit. ▶️ Rompers are another absolute FAVE + some of our student’s go-to shops to buy from are Old Navy, Bohme, Loft, and Vici collection. ▶️ COMFY & CUTE flats. Brands our students buy from are Birkenstocks, Fit Flops, Chacos, Target + Doc Martins… and to be honest, sometimes we even go barefoot. 🤷🏻♀️ NO SHAME. ▶️ Light FLOWY pants with a cute top. Now it’s your turn? Tell us below! What’s YOUR go to wedding day outfit? Have you found the best romper or the comfiest shoes? SHARE THE GOODS WITH EVERYONE FRIEND! :)

As shocking as this may sound, this tip COMPLETELY changed our workflow. Are you ready for this?! GET. 👏🏼 DRESSED. 👏🏼 Yeah, you heard us... get dressed! As a creative entrepreneur who chooses your own hours, it sounds SUPER tempting to run your business from the comfort of your own bed and lounge in your pajamas alllll day long. But in reality... it can be DETRIMENTAL to your business. In our own experience, we found lounging it day in and day out really did a number on our productivity. It didn’t give us the hustle mentality we needed to run and grow a successful business. We realized that if we wanted to tackle our to do list and GET SHIZZ DONE, we needed to get out of our cozy lounge clothes, and into something that made us feel powerful, driven and excited. Who knew that dressing could boost your motivation?! Alongside this, sometimes it’s helpful to leave the house every now and then. Even though it sounds comfortable to work from home, it can be super helpful to mix things up every now and then. For us, even though we have home offices, we LOVE working at coffee shops too. HECK! We even get all dressed up to work at multiple coffee shops. NO SHAME! When we do this, we’re WAAAYYY more productive, we’re more motivated, and to be honest, we feel like an ABSOLUTE BOSS! We HUSTLE HARDER because we look and feel the part. Does anyone else feel this way?! 🙋🏻♀️ Look, when we say get “dressed up” that doesn’t mean you have to put on heels and a dress. You do you. Even if that just means jeans, a tee, and a ball cap. But we are saying it’s ESSENTIAL to your workflow to CHANGE OUT OF THOSE PAJAMAS, and work in an environment that GETS YOUR CREATIVE BLOOD PUMPING!!! What are some ways you motivate yourself for a work day?! We’d love to hear your tips and tricks!
