Little bird abode that I found upended on the soggy, muddy verge today. A casualty of Storm Dennis. I hope the feathered owner was done with it, it came home with me. A little treasure that really brightened up my day I've been having a few health problems recently and am behind in everything. Work, art of any kind, looking after the house, becoming reclusive, losing myself. Am coming out of it slowly thanks mainly to loved ones forcing me to seek help. Today I went back to uni briefly, just to the library. It was hard and draining and I hurt all over now. But it was sunny inbetween the rain and I was rewarded with this and it feels like... I don't know, change maybe? A sign? We know I love the signs Anyway, I hope to be doing more and sharing more soon. And I've started with this. A beautifully constructed little nest, the workmanship so good that it was bone dry and fluffy inside despite what it had been through. Well done that bird . . . . . .
Some months ago I finished a commission for my biggest supporter @cazhugs Carol owns a timeline of my progress as a maker and has been one of the biggest forces behind my starting to sell and also get the courage to go to uni as a mature student. It was such an honour when she asked for a zombie portrait of her partner that I decided to do her too as a tiny thank you for everything. . I haven't been able to share until now as it was to be a Christmas present for her partner so this lovely sunny day is from the Summer, thought we could do with it on this cold grey day. . Swipe for close ups . Thanks Carol 💀 . . . . . #zombiesarecoming
Back in the Autumn I made paper for the first time since some gloopy gloop in primary school. It was a lot of fun, the project I'm working on at the moment is all about incorporating the memory of a place by using things from the place. Nature... found objects etc. Kind of like a time capsule. So this paper is made from mushed up autumnal leaves gathered around campus... plus a little loo roll inner as binder. I was supposed to hammer it smooth but I love its rough, bark like texture. I think I'm leaving it like this. . . Holding onto Autumn a little bit before Spring starts to show up. 🍁 . . . . #papermaking #natureasart

My #topnine2019 - some of my stuff, some of your stuff. Monsters, zombies, crows and nature, print and stitch and a whole lot of fun. 2019 has been eventful, eye opening and I feel like I am finally finding that thing I want to do forever and ever or at least till the next obsession comes along - thank you so much for continuing to be there with me 💖 . .
