Cheers to a new week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mine is off to a great start so far. I got up bright and early for a sunrise spin class with my sister, and this afternoon I'm headed up to Great Falls for a hike and a styled shoot! If you're looking for micro wedding / elopement inspiration, keep an eye out because @klaynestyled has outdone herself with the shoot she's planned for today. It's going to be a fun week around here, because our sweet little Ellie turns FOUR on Wednesday! I'm looking forward to a long weekend celebrating everything she is. We usually take the boat out and watch the fireworks over the river, but this year, we might camp out in the backyard and put on a show of our own! Happy Monday, friends. Make it count!
Hannah & Casey are MARRIED! Not on a beach in Mexico, but in an aunt's backyard with just a handful of VIPs in attendance. And you know what? It was absolutely perfect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They shared a first look, exchanged vows, shared dances with their parents, and even had their pup, Natty, in attendance! Head over to the blog for all my favorites, including the CUTEST little pug pup you ever did see! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Congratulations, you two. I cannot wait for your bonus celebration in Mexico next year!
An open letter to 2020 couples: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year looks nothing like what we expected or hoped for, but it's still beautiful. In a time where it feels like so much is out of your control, it's my hope that you still find a way to make this time your own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope you're gentle with yourself and take time to grieve the loss of a normal engagement because yes, what you're experiencing is absolutely a loss. Cry, go for a long run, vent to me if you need to. My inbox is always open.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope you drown out any voices that are unsupportive, and lean into the relationships that lift you up. Hard times have a funny way of showing us who our real friends are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope you still have date nights with your fiancé. Pop a bottle of champagne and spread out a blanket on the living room floor for a picnic. Check in with each other often about what you're feeling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Table the wedding talk when you need a mental break, but don't be afraid to celebrate when you want to, either. The world is dark right now, and we need joy and brightness more than ever. Your love story might just be the joy someone else needs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And finally, do whatever the hell YOU want to do. Still want to get married on your date, no matter what? A backyard ceremony can be absolutely stunning and so meaningful. Prefer to postpone plans until next year? Congratulations, you just got more time to look forward to your wedding! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Love is love is love, and it is all you need - although, a bomb photographer doesn't hurt either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Keep your chins up, 2020 couples. This is STILL your year.
It's been too long since my own face was in my feed, so here I am! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you're new around here, hey hi hello, I'm Amanda! I'm a wedding & portrait photographer for people who want photos as classic, colorful, and authentic as they are. Genuine human connection is at the heart of everything I do, so here's five facts you need to know about me!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Movie & TV references are part of my vernacular. You can pretty much bet I'll make a reference to Ricky Bobby hands or Chandler's awkward smile during your session! Which leads me to...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. I firmly believe that EVERYONE is photogenic, they just need to shown how to feel natural in front of a camera. That's exactly what I love to help with! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Love is love is love, and people of all shapes, sizes, colors, orientations, and genders are welcomed here with open arms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me hanging out with my husband, Adam, and our two girls, Caroline and Ellie! At almost 4 and 6, they keep us BUSY and fill our world with snuggles and craft projects. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5. My newfound corona hobbies are gardening, health & fitness, watercoloring, and baking. I don't do anything of these things particularly well, but I'm learning! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Okay new friend, do we have anything in common? Let me know in the comments!
It's Hannah & Casey's WEDDING DAY!!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We should be on a beach in Mexico right now, but those plans will keep just fine until next year. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's not where you are but who you're with that really matters.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today these two are tying the knot in a private at-home ceremony, and I'm so excited to be there to document it! Keep an eye out for more pretty coming soon!
Today has been busy busy busy! Several phone consultations, editing & gallery deliveries, booked in new clients, and cleaned out my office a bit! We've decided to homeschool next year, so my office is also going to have dedicated space for the girls to do their schoolwork. It may seem quiet around here, but that's because I'm getting so much done behind the scenes! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #outerbankswedding #outerbanksphotographer #annapolisweddings #annapolisweddingphotographer #marylandweddings #soloverly #thatsdarling #pursuepretty #virginiaweddings #virginiaweddingphotographer #marylandweddingphotographer #somdphotographer #annapolisphotographer #2020bride #isaidyes #justengaged #destinationweddingphotographer #luxuryweddingphotographer #luxurywedding #dcweddingphotographer #marylandweddings #dcweddings #covidcouple #somdweddings
Oh, you guys. I have never experienced such dramatic weather changes during a session as I did during Sarah & Nick’s engagement session! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I watched the forecast anxiously all week long. There was a torrential downpour the whole drive up to Kent Island from southern Maryland, yet the forecast insisted we’d have a little break right at the time we were set to shoot. And thank the Lord, that is EXACTLY what we got! It poured the whole way there, the whole way home, and even during the drive between locations, but not a single drop fell on these two while we were shooting! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't let this image fool you - head over to the blog to see the storm we were dealing with and even more from Sarah & Nick's engagement session!
Good morning instagram! Took a few days off posting (did ya even notice?) and it felt so good. Now more than ever, social media can be such a drain mentally - especially if you're an empath like me! Remember to take time off and be present in real life, too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As for me, it's going to be a busy day! I'm healing up after a sunburn from yesterday, editing several galleries, and prepping for a week of sessions and an intimate wedding ceremony for one of my COVID-impacted couples. We should've been headed to Mexico on Wednesday for Hannah and Casey's wedding, but those plans will have to wait until next year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are you up to this week? Make it a good one, friend!
I don't often post family portraits where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling, but when I do ... 😍😍😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let's be real: this photo is the reason you book a family portrait session. Right? This is the money shot, the portrait that's the hardest to create, the image that will hang on the wall for years to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But honestly? My favorite part of any session is what comes after. The candids. The real life. The pure joy when a toddler gets a piggyback ride from dad, or the look of utter contentment when snuggled up in mom's lap. The ones where, for just a second, maybe you forgot that I was there at all. These are the images that tell your family's story and belong in an album, ready to be poured over and studied for years to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are you ready to document your happily-ever-after? Let's get started. My 2020 portrait calendar is nearly fully booked!
