Today is #SharkAwarenessDay, and we want to celebrate and highlight these majestic and sometimes misunderstood and misrepresented creatures for their ecological importance and the crucial role they play to maintain the planet’s exceptionally biodiverse marine ecosystems. 🦈 These apex predators face serious and relentless threats, from illegal fishing to pollution and climate change, so days like today are imperative to serve as reminders of the conservation measures needed to protect sharks and preserve the health of our oceans. As nature lovers, we are committed to providing our travelers with opportunities to see these iconic species in their natural habitats through activities that not only promote the preservation of marine wildlife through research projects and educational initiatives, but also ensure that any wildlife encounters are done from a safe distance to avoid disturbing the animals or contributing to the problem of animal harassment.
Caring for the wellbeing of sharks is caring for the wellbeing of our oceans and our planet, so we hope an occasion like today’s will inspire everyone to learn more about these magnificent creatures and why we should seek out to understand and protect them! 🌎
