Lake Koocanusa is a manmade reservoir created in 1975 when the Libby Dam was constructed on the Kootenay River in Montana. The dam provides flood protection and hydroelectric power. Lake levels fluctuate throughout the year, are generally highest in July and August and decrease gradually toward winter. Conveniently located in the heart of Lake Koocanusa, the KV Marina offers private boat slips, boat launch with parking and store. Come and visit when you need a rest or supplies. Look for the Koocanusa Village sign across from the confluence of the Elk River–if the flag is flying, we’re open! KV currently operates the south marina with 74 slips with potential for 500 slips. Slips are available for lease for the summer, a week or a weekend. The north marina has further potential for 300 slips.
