• UPDATE: I will be taking a break from this account. ↴
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like all business owners, 2020 made me really think about where I want to go next. I originally started this account to try new things, expand my reach beyond photography, and it has been a really fun ride. I want to thank you for being part of it so far! I ultimately have decided to focus on building my education brand under my personal brand, @chelseastratso.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I may come back to this, but during this season of my life I am working on some really exciting projects and need to focus my energy. I will still be offering up business advice on my other account, so sure to give me a follow on @chelseastratso as I have a lot of photography educational material coming out soon, and a big announcement next week!

  • Raise your hand if COVID did a number on your business 🙋🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You aren't alone. When it first started, I went HARD on some areas of my business that I didn't typically have time for. And then all at once everything hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt like I was just spinning my wheels because I was working so hard, but yet everything in the world was at a stand still so I wasn't booking anything. I was right back where I didn't want to be: feeling burnt out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Guys, just because we have more downtime than ever doesn't mean we should be pouring our every free moment into working. That's never healthy as a business owner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So for the month of June I challenge you to use that extra free time to TAKE CARE OF YOU. Work on your biz one day less a week. Post less on Instagram. Leave your phone at home and go on an adventure. For self-care month, you'll see me on here a little less. And I hope that you use this time to do the same ❤️

  • Sometimes self care is:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A cup of coffee
A quick yoga sesh
Getting enough sleep
Keeping a gratitude journal
Reading a book
Closing out of Insta
Having a healthy meal
Going to therapy
Taking a break between tasks
Going for a walk
Drawing
Lighting a candle
Having a Netflix binge day
Meditating
Spending time alone
Having a glass of water
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Acts of self care can be big or small. If you are constantly feeling off - implement acts of self care into your daily routine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What are some of your favorite things to do for yourself - big or small?

  • June's topic is...... self care as an entrepreneur!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A couple of years ago my friends damn near had an intervention with me about my work habits. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't make time to eat healthy, I couldn't leave my desk, I couldn't answer the phone when people I love and care about called, and man was I snappy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I wasn't working, I felt like I was failing my business. Sure I got things done and every biz has to go through the hustle, but what I was doing was beyond that. It was unhealthy. Eventually it caught up to me and I had to really learn how to balance work and play.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know we are all feeling a lot of emotions during this time of uncertainty. So I think it's more important now than ever to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. So join me next month!!

  • When it comes to client communication, how can you keep healthy boundaries?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Raise your hand if you've ever gotten a text at 9pm from a client, and you immediately drop what your are doing and go into work mode? 🙋🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Been there! Emergencies are understandable, but if it's just a question that can wait until the morning, wait until the morning. If you want them to stick to email because you can keep track of messages easier that way, respond via email and let them know that email is the best way to reach you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have someone who constantly texts or calls outside of your biz hours, politely remind them of what your hours are, and the best way to reach you. Every business operates differently, so it is your job to set your hours and communicate them (nicely).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Healthy boundaries with clear communication keep everyone happy! Also pictured here are a couple who did not text me in the middle of the night 😂

  • Want to put your clients at ease??
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Check in with them periodically! For my wedding and elopement clients, I check in 90 days, 60 days, two weeks, and 1 week out. Say hello, ask them how planning is going, and see if you can help with anything. You never know how you might be able to serve them, and it's always great to let them know you are thinking about them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have these emails semi-automated, meaning I get a reminder from Dubsado when an email needs to go out, so I can double check the details before hitting send. Takes like.... 30 seconds and it's amazing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
FYI Dubsado gives you a free trial for up three clients, and then you can use my code "chelseadub" for 20% off your first month or year!
