In celebration of Juneteenth, NOBCChE, commUNITY, and the Chemistry Department hosted Prof. Raychelle Burks, a renowned forensic chemist expert, a prolific public communicator across multiple media, and a 2026-2027 Fulbright Scholar. The week featured a screening of ‘Picture A Scientist,’ a science communication panel titled "From the Lab to the Public: Science Communication across Audiences," and a research seminar by Prof. Burks on colorimetric sensing in the criminal justice system.

We’re excited to announce the hiring of Dennis Kutateladze to the Department of Chemistry as an Assistant Professor, beginning September 2026!
The Kutateladze Group will use techniques from physical organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and peptide science to develop new catalytic organic reactions and strategies that expand access to value-added compounds. A particular emphasis will be placed on catalyst design—guided by both experiment and computation—for broad applications across organic synthesis.
