Dr. Erwin Lutzer, heard weekday mornings at 11:30 on GNNradio, said there are 5 false gospels prominent in evangelical churches today. The first is “permissive grace,” which involves churches saying that people can have grace without personal transformation. “We have to preach about sin and do so compassionately so people know that they need the abundant, undeserved grace of God,” said Lutzer. Second is the “social justice gospel.” “Social justice, no matter how well done, at its best is not the gospel. It may be the result of the gospel, depending on how it’s defined. I mean, you can go to Africa and all of the various hospitals were built by missionaries,” Lutzer explained. “So we’ve always had a social conscience, but social justice is not the gospel. The gospel is not what we can do for Jesus; it’s what Jesus has done for us.” Third is “new age” ideas as a false gospel that can enter an evangelical church, and fourth is the “gospel of my sexuality,” which involved evangelical churches not denouncing sexual sins. Finally, Lutzer described as a threat to evangelical churches was “interfaith dialogue,” specifically certain kinds of dialogue. Lutzer cited dialogues with Muslims as an example. “Now, I’m not opposed to debates. And, of course, I argue also that we need to befriend Muslims. Lutzer’s talk about the five false gospels was drawn from a book he published in August 2018 titled The Church in Babylon: Heeding the Call to Be a Light in the Darkness. The book sought to answer how Christians can live in a “pagan” culture through two questions, “How did we get here?” and “How do we prepare for the dark and difficult days ahead?” #gnnradio #erwinlutzer

Apologist Ken Ham, CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis, has authored a new book, “Will They Stand: Parenting Kids to Face the Giants”, “Noah’s flood is a very important event … and yet it’s so scoffed at by atheists,” he said, noting that a persistent question always plagued him when he worked as a teacher back in the 1970s. Ham said students would often try to poke holes in the Noah narrative, questioning how all of the animals could have possibly fit inside the ark. They argued that, due to the seemingly insurmountable task, the worldwide flood account simply couldn’t be a real-life story. This persistent question and argument later left Ham pondering what he could do to better bring the biblical account to life — and that’s where the roots of the Ark Encounter were set. “What if we built Noah’s ark to scale using the measurements in the Bible?” he pondered. That quest culminated in the creation of the massive ark replica, an attraction that is one-and-a-half times the length of a football field. With three decks of exhibits inside the Ark Encounter, Ham believes he’s giving visitors the chance to see the biblical epic in a much clearer light. “It makes the Bible come alive in a way that people can’t experience elsewhere,” Ham said. “And it answers these skeptical questions.” The apologist believes the Ark Encounter underscores the great flood as an “integral event in history” and as a reminder of God’s love. “Noah’s ark, itself, is a picture of Jesus, as Noah and his family went through one door to be saved,” Ham said. “So we need to go through a door to be saved.” • The Ark Encounter has a special offer for all children 10 and under Free Admission for the entire year of 2021. • You can hear Answers in Genesis daily on GNNradio. #gnnradio #goodnews #arkencounter #answersingenesis #kenham

South Carolina's Republican Gov. Henry McMaster has signed the state's new pro-life heartbeat bill into law. State Republicans voted to pass the measure on Wednesday, prompting nearly all of South Carolina's Democrat lawmakers to walk out of the state House chamber in protest. The measure had already passed the Palmetto state's Senate on Jan. 28, banning most abortions in the state once the baby's heartbeat is detected. McMaster said recently, "This is one of the most pro-life bills, most pro-life we've had here. One of the most pro-life in the country." The “South Carolina Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act ” requires doctors to perform ultrasounds to check for a heartbeat in the fetus. If one is detected, the abortion can only be performed if the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest or the mother’s life is in danger. For years, the bill has failed to pass the South Carolina Senate. But Republicans gained three seats in the 2020 elections and the newly energized 30-16 Republican majority made the proposal Senate Bill No. 1 and finally pushed it over a procedural hurdle. #gnnradio #goodnews #prolife
