❤️ if you need this as much as I do!! I used to think the greatest danger I faced in my business was messing up or failing... but NOPE. Not even close. The greatest danger my business has faced over the years is my underlying feeling of wanting everything to be perfect. Once I learned that I just needed to get it started (done is better than perfect!) everything started to fall into place. We’re about to launch a HUGE project over here (a new healthy habits QUIZ that you will LOVE!!) and it’s been 5 months in the making. It’s not just good, it’s FANTASTIC! But, the process hasn’t been perfect (ha, it’s been FAAARRRR from it.) But I didn’t have to get everything single minute perfect, I just need to get it started. From there it’s just about tweaking to make it right. Right is different than perfect, because what you think is perfect in the beginning doesn’t usually even make sense at the end of the project. You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it STARTED. Then, tweak from there and you will end up with something AMAZING! What do you need to get started right now?

Your health is so much more than what you eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sure, what you eat matters. The food you put in your mouth makes up the building blocks of your cells, which form not only your bones, tissue, and organs, but your hormones, the chemical pathways your brain uses to communicate, and all the other magic that keeps your body running. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You already know that what you eat influences your health, but did you know that the habits that govern how you operate in other areas of life, like how you create (or disregard) your home environment, and the routines you consciously (or unconsciously) follow each day, also dramatically affect your health? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These non-food factors are just as important as what you put in your mouth. In fact, your non-food lifestyle factors—from how you keep your home space, to how you set up your days, to whom you choose to interact with and how—are what create the mind-set and subconscious cues that make you want to take better care of yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your internal environment is deeply linked to your external environment. Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you to meditate for six hours a day or go do a self-help seminar (although those things can be great!). But I am going to ask you to take a good hard look at becoming more conscious about your environment and mindset, because how you spend your days is how you live your life. // (An excerpt from ‘The Health Habit’) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know that your physical environment is a hugely influences your healthy (or unhealthy) habits? There’s an entire chapter in The Health Habit dedicated to creating a physical environment that cues your brain to want to make better choices. From your kitchen to laundry to beauty products to living spaces, detoxing your home environment is just as important to your health as the food you put in your mouth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Drop a ❤️ if you agree that detoxing your environment matters! 👇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #TheHealthHabit #TheHealthHabitBook @HayHouse #HayHouseAuthor #detox #healthylifestyle #healthyenvironment #healthybeauty
“Emotions are chemical expressions of thought. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We experience emotions as physical sensations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥰 The feeling of a tickling stomach on a first date. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔪 The knife in our hearts when we go through a breakup. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤢 The holy-cow-I’m-gonna-throw-up sensation before walking onstage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we experience any emotion, it starts with a thought. 💭 Thoughts spark a chemical reaction in our brains, then we feel the emotion. Once that physical process is in place, it can affect any system or cell in your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For instance, you have the thought of seeing your new husband for the first time after being away for a week on a business trip. That thought sparks a chemical reaction in your brain that you perceive as joy, or maybe even sexual excitement. Feel-good neurotransmitters such as serotonin are released and along with the feeling of joy, your cortisol level is lowered and your body benefits from the fresh release of the happy thoughts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the flip side, the thought of getting through another day of a job you hate sends the stress hormone cortisol through the roof, affecting not only your ability to sleep well, but your motivation to exercise, eat right, and so on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It also causes your brain to look for food as pleasure, which might be the reason you have an overwhelming need for a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream every night. Even a happy relationship or successful career can cause these unhealthy stress levels. Your physical body can’t distinguish between the stress of running from a tiger versus the stress of signing your first book deal and then realizing you’ve agreed to work for someone else for the first time in 10 years when you cash their check, then further realizing they like to use words like deadlines and due dates (hi, Hay House!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s right, stress is stress to your body, no matter where it comes from.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📚 An excerpt from #TheHealthHabit - Grab it now wherever books are sold for more like this ♥️ link in my profile @elizabeth_rider ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #TheHealthHabitBook #HayHouseAuthor @hayhouse #mentalhealth #youarenotyouremotions #healthylifestyle #healthcoach

If you have to force it, over and over and over again, then it's not working. And that's ok. It's a normal part of life. Just don't keep forcing it. Admit when something isn't working so you can begin to redirect and choose again. Everything good and worthwhile takes work, but not everything will work forever. Admit when something isn't working so you can take the next step towards what works. It may even seem trivial, but one small change of what's not working can completely change your life. In business, your health, your relationships… it's all the same. This isn't working is usually the first step to getting anything you want in life.
