OUCH❗️
Last night we wrapped up our sermon series called OUCH! This has been such an impactful study of the various stumbling block passages we find in Scripture. As always they’re all on the podcast but for now, a recap!
❗️Anxiety- Christ gives us a new identity in himself and in doing so he empowers our agency, he overcomes our anxiety, and he increases our awareness of ways to love and serve our neighbors.
❗️Materialism- The middle way of Jesus is open-handedly partnering with Him to generously steward the resources he entrusts to us.
❗️Temptation- Temptations are opportunities for our faith to be broken; but they are also invitations to rediscover our little-ness and to be liberated from our cultural idols by the justice and mercy of God in Christ and give our desires in service of one another in the Spirit.
❗️Hatred- Where we are motivated by scarcity, God is generous in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Hatred finds its reversal in the resurrection of Jesus.
❗️Success- The only way to true success is to walk in the way of Jesus – who is means and end, suffering and success, death and resurrection.
❗️Conflict- In Christ, the ultimate conflict between us and God is settled. In light of that we can walk through conflict with our brother/ sister in humility and vulnerability giving them the same love that Christ has given us.
