  • HONOR: thank you Mr Arceo for igniting our passions, thank you Mr Schulte for leading our flock, thank you Mr Cabarcas for building our spirit. An Art Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Custodian moved on from Monroe today. However we all lost three friends. We will forever miss you. The class of 2020- we closed the streets 3 times for you this year (strike, pandemic, protests) and we did it because we *respect you, want you *safe, and are *responsible to you. We want you to build a world where everyone is **respectful, responsible, safe***. We closed the streets so that you could build this world... so that you could build your path forward. Take it. You are beautiful, you are worthy, the future is yours. Valedictorian AGH, from our English as a Second Language Program, read her speech in two languages. We couldn’t be more proud. You have the skills we all need to build this bright future. The heartiest thanks to our 8th grade team, DL team, Operations Team, and entire staff of volunteers who all made this entire week so special for these beautiful wonderful children we adore. Congrats to all the families who we celebrate today too. Your sacrifices built this stunning day. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • GRADUATE: we celebrate their first teeth, first words, and today their first steps up to their first graduation. It was socially distant, but so full of heart. The deepest thank you to Ms Acevedo, Ms Reyes, and Ms Smith and the entire kinder team and staff - particularly Ms Roman, Ms Nunez, Mr W and moms Ms Pena and President Gutierrez for celebrating this first quarantine graduation and the first graduation of these students who will have many more thru college and beyond! It was awesome! Thank you as well @celebratebetter who helped us do just that today!!! It was a smash hit and many said our backdrops and props need to be every year. Thank you to our families and @friendsofjamesmonroe and most of all just thank you for loving these kids as much as we all do. Today was so fun and the shirts, plaques, toy bags and more will stay with us like all these memories. #onemonroe
