Testing, testing, 1, 2 ,3. #LeonorGreylUSAgiftedme their huile apaisant scalp oil and I tried it for the first time last night! ____ As you can see from the photos, it's an oil blend with a roll-on applicator. It has a base of apricot + almond oil with a blend of various extracts + oils (but free of essential oils + fragrance.) I don't have the space to go into every ingredient, but a lot of them have calming and healing properties. High up on the ingredient list are borage seed oil and camellia seed oil-- both are soothing + moisturizing. Further down is guaiazulene-- an active ingredient found in chamomile (also what gives this oil its blue color, I think.) It's said to be anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial, which makes sense when you consider the potential sources of dandruff. ____ This oil has a ton of claims-- rebalancing sebum production, preventing dehydration, and reduces dandruff. Obviously, I can't evaluate all those claims after 1 use. But I can say that it stopped my scalp from itching and it didn't make my roots excessively oily. The instructions said to apply it prior to shampooing, but I just left it on all night. Because the roll-on doesn't deposit a lot of product, I can apply it precisely on my scalp without wasting product on my hair. ____ I am very dandruff prone and this past winter, have had itchy scalp issues. If I maintain a proper routine (aka shampoo + scrub every 2 days) my scalp is fine. But alas, I hate shampooing so I'll often go 4 days between washes which in turn makes my scalp itchy and flaky. I'm going to continue testing this to see if it can prevent me from going flaky/ itchy between washes. ____ @leonorgreylusa #leonorgreylusa #leonorgreyl
Things on brand 💁🏽♀️ I had a caption all typed up with mini reviews but Instagram ate it 🙃
Sometimes we keep thing simple 🔥
Shelfie: up close & personal edition ____ Sometimes my shelfies are filled with new-in things I haven't tried yet, but for once I've used everything on this shelfie. ⭐ @herbivorebotanicals phoenix oil*: Definitely my favorite product from the brand-- it's a delicious oil blend that's perfect for my dry winter skin. It's heavier but absorbs easily. I finished a mini last winter (not PR.) ⭐ @darphin intral serum*: So many people told me this calmed their skin's redness and I gotta agree. When I apply this after masking, I notice my skin is instantly soothed. ⭐ @kiehls ultra facial toner: So underrated-- I'm on my 3rd bottle. It's simple, soothing, and hydrating. And for a prestige brand, reasonably priced at $16. ⭐ @love_amika perk up dry shampoo*: A nice, medium dry shampoo. Removes oil without making my hair too gritty. (Get 10% off with my affiliate code-- SHARM10) ⭐ @sioris_official a calming day ampoule: I've only used this a few times but I can already tell I'm gonna love it. It works really well to remediate my flaky patches. ⭐ @tatcha violet-c mask: Probably my favorite morning time mask to use. My skin has an instant brightness + luminosity afterward. It also doesn't dry me out. ⭐ @caudalie moisturizing sorbet*: Unfortunately, this broke me out so instead it's been relegated as a hand cream. For those purposes it's ace 👌🏾 It's light & absorbs instantly. ⭐ @belifusa pore minimizing moisturizer*: While I love the packaging for this line, I have better luck with their aqua bomb products. This is mildly hydrating but nothing out of this world. ⭐ @lilydemai bliss mist*: The heavy glass packaging + ingredients list (rose hydrosol, niacinamide, sodium pca, and so much more!!) for this mist are SO lux. But it also has a price tag to match 🙃 ⭐ @saturday_skin balancing lotion: Value wise, this is a good deal (you get 4+ oz of product) Unfortunately, it's pill city. I'm glad I'm almost done with it! ____ * = PR
An extra morning shower routine from #selfcaresunday-- cause if ya can't be extra on Sundays, when can you be extra?? ____ ⭐ @love_amika scalp scrub*: This quickly became tied with the @briogeo for favorite scalp scrub. It's easy to apply, effective, doesn't strip my hair, and rinses out easily. Would repurchase. ⭐ @olaplex shampoo: The more I use this, the more I love it. I need to use the teensiest bit because it lathers intensely. It doesn't strip my hair. Combined with the following conditioner-- I get some nice curl definition. ⭐ @briogeo rosarco conditioner*: On its own, this is just an ok conditioner. But when applied after the olaplex, the combo gives my nice wavy, curls! ⭐ @lelabofragrances basil sesame body wash: Smells like luxury 💰 ⭐ @herbivorebotanicals coco rose body scrub*: Probably my second favorite product by them (first is phoenix.) This has a deliciously whipped consistency-- it's easy to use + effective + smells amaze. ⭐ @detoxmode altogether oil*: Love that this comes with a spray. I applied it to my body + tried it for the first time on my hair. It works nicely but I have better luck with thicker oils. ⭐ @makeprem in-shower mask (@altheakorea*): HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT THIS?! This really keeps my skin hydrated in the shower. It doesn't wash away or get in my eyes when I shampoo + conditioner. ⭐ @blithecosmetic splash mask: I like this BUT it will literally take me forever to finish. SO I've started applying it to my body as well-- will report back on results. ____ * = PR
Current bedside rotation. I can't be the only one who does their nighttime skincare routine in bed 💆🏽♀️ ___ I've been using @drunkelephant's retinol (PR) for over a month now. It's probably best to start with the products claims. It's a 1% vegan retinol cream-- to compensate for the dehydration that's often a side effect of retinol, the cream contains a ton of moisturizing ingredients. Retinol in and of itself can provide a myriad of benefits-- combat acne, soften wrinkles, fade dark spots. It largely works by speeding up cell turnover rates. ___ At the ripe old age of 25, this is the first retinol cream I've tried. I wavered between using it 1x and 2x a week, partly because I was super lazy with skincare at the end of the year and partly because I didn't want to deal with purging and peeling skin. So far, I thankfully haven't dealt with any peeling and have had minor purging. I had a few blind pimples pop up on my chin and cheek, but they've gone away relatively quickly. I have noticed my skin to be more sensitive on the mornings after I apply the retinol, so I make sure to have an extra gentle + hydrating routine those days. Retinol is a marathon, not a sprint, so I hope to see more improvements to my skin as the months go on. ___ The tube retails for $74.00 and contains 1 oz of product. It's pricey but on par with their other products + similar brands. It's hard to tell how long the tube will last because that's very much dependent on how much you use. Personally, I can easily see this lasting me half a year because I'm conservative with my use. ALSO, don't be like me and squeeze it in the middle. Make sure you gently press the top, flat end of the tube otherwise the product will gush out and go to waste.
Happy Saturday! What are you up to this weekend? I'm making it a goal of mine to share my first blog post of 2019! I have it all written up... but I want to retake the photos. In the meantime, here's a random nighttime routine from last month that I never posted: ⭐️ @peach_slices makeup removing pudding cleanser ⭐️ @biodermausa sensibio cleanser ⭐️ @blithecosmetic splash mask ⭐️ @oseamalibu vitamin boost (PR) ⭐️ @23.5nofficial beauty tea toner ⭐️ @peachandlily glass skin serum (not pictured) ⭐️ @paiskincare rosehip oil (PR) ⭐️ @drjart ceramidin cream (PR-- not pictured) ⭐️ @lilydemai bliss oil (PR) ⭐️ @laneige_us lip sleeping mask
Repost of a photo from this summer 🙃 I haven't taken any *fresh* photos in a month and now I'm kind of worried that I forgot how... I attempted to shoot last night but everything came out ugly lol. How do you get back into the swing of things?
#sponsored The new @burtsbees toothpaste stuck by my side through the holiday treats and cookies and cakes and now it's sticking with me into the new year! One of my new year's resolutions is to be more consistent with my body care and oral care routines. If I can put in all the time and energy for my skincare, I can do it for the rest of my body! ___ I've been rotating between the enamel care and clean & fresh versions-- both contain fluoride but are free of SLS and plastic microbeads 👌🏾 They're both minty, but not in a biting way. You can find them at your local @cvspharmacy stores! #burtsbeestoothpaste
