  • Iā€™ve shared my business + life values on here several times before. As a reminder, one of those values is to see humans as the divinely created being they are. Collectively, white peopleā€™s worth has never been in question. But black people are fighting for their lives still today. This is unacceptable. Black lives are divinely created, beautiful, sacred, and worthy of living without fear of being shot down daily. Black lives matter. Fighting racism within yourself (and yes, ALL white people have internalized racism and benefit from the structure of white supremacy) is a daily task. White folks, we are racist but we can actively work towards being anti-racist. Key word: actively. We will get this wrong. I will get this wrong. But pride and fear of being seen as racist (not BEING racist but being SEEN as racist) can no longer hold us back when black bodies are dying every single day. BIPOC deserve better from us. Letā€™s repent, lament, and get to work. A few places to start today: decolonize your social media, donate to an organization working to fight racism and black deaths, support an anti-racism educator with your money, and for the love of God do not message your black friends expecting them to educate your or carry your emotional burden and white tears.

  • Any other fellow routine lovers here? They keep me sane + healthy. I love the freedom I have as a business owner, but I've found that some semblance of a routine is what works best for me. So, I have a set morning routine, then afternoons are free to do as I please (work, lunch with friends (gosh, remember that?), library visits, etc.), then I have a pre-bedtime routine. This is just what works for me! Are you a routine lover or a free spirit?

  • I LOVE rom-com movies. I do, but one of my biggest pet peeves is the miscommunication trope. Someone doesnā€™t communicate effectively, and as a result they break up. In the end, they always get back together, but I canā€™t help and think they could have saved SO much time by being clear in the first place. I feel the same way about communication in business. I always aim to over communicate. I donā€™t ever want to client to be unsure of whatā€™s next. Upon booking, I send over every single due date for the course of the project and a welcome guide that includes (again) the timeline, how to get in touch with me, the process, a quick bit on how to provide feedback, and I set some boundaries around communication. During the feedback process, theyā€™re guided via email and in the feedback form on how to provide effective feedback.
