Heading out of my design cave (got soo much done and am feeling so good about the direction this brand is heading in) to get dressed all fancy and attend a fundraiser event tonight. Tomorrow I have nothing to do but clean an office (bridge job) and Sunday I’m going to an art opening with my sister and sweet niece and nephew and we’re going to try out a restaurant we’ve been dying to go to. Life has been busy lately, so I’m excited to have the chance to slow down for a bit this weekend. What are you up to this weekend? It’s been a distracting week. You know the kind - full of emails, putting out fires, and last minute client needs. It’s made it hard to sit down and focus on a brand project that I’m really excited about. It’s totally different from my usual style, so it’s a challenge that I want to rise to. So, today I’m heading into a design hibernation and trying to eliminate all distractions so I can focus on this fun project. I worked a bit later last night to try to answer all my emails, schedule social, and put out any fires before they may happen. My phone is going in the other room, emails are off, and I don’t have anywhere to be until 7pm. Learning some hard lessons this week about print. Print is one of my FAVORITE parts of a brand. I love branding, but even more than that I love making it come to life and holding a tangible product in my life. As I gain more clients who feel the same way and have the budget for beautiful print items, I’m growing in my knowledge of print processes and methods. Like anything, getting good at something requires making mistakes. This week has been full of mistakes, and honestly I’m feeling foolish and inadequate and so so thankful for a kind, gracious client who’s understanding. Reminding myself of my ‘I Am’ statements, that tomorrow is a new day, and that these mistakes will never be made again. 💕
I woke up this morning feeling bone tired. I wanted to spend the whole day in bed and I definitely didn't want to get up and run. But really, I know that this feeling comes from the dreary weather and one of the best things I can do in this season is to get up and put on my running shoes. So I did. I pushed through the first half with a great time. Then, I allowed myself to slow down and walk the rest because I showed up (and also because I have shin splints 🙄). Today I showed up, and I'm proud of that. How are you showing up today? Now excuse me while I go foam roll all the things (guys 26 is hard) and buy a Vitamin D lamp from Amazon.
I woke up yesterday morning to an email with the ticket to a concert I’d kept forgetting about. I’d worked a catering shift late the night before and let me tell you those are HARD on the body. My head hurt, I was dehydrated, and my entire body is sore (I’m only 26 - honestly this is ridiculous!). So I pulled myself out of bed and went to a coffee shop and worked for a few hours to get a head start on the week ahead. Then I went home to nap because the concert didn’t start until 8 and really who can do that without a nap?! I went into the concert exhausted, and a little flustered because I spilled black beans on my new sweater and I snapped my bra underwire and didn’t have time to buy a new one so I was wearing a black bra with a white sweater. It’s fine. I’m fine. Then, he started playing. And everything melted away. Good music can do that to me, and gosh was this good music. Noah Gundersen thanks for putting on the best dang show and filling me with creative inspiration for the week ahead. What non computer things fill you with creative inspiration like this?
