Sketch 3/70 🥜🥯 I think this is what happens when you find yourself eating a peanut butter smothered bagel by the light of the fridge in the middle of the night. 🤷♀️ apparently someone didn’t get enough to eat after her evening run 🤔🙋♀️
I’ve been reading poetry lately. Which is unusual, because I’ve never read poetry (with the exception of Biblical poetry) unless it was required for school. But I find myself amazed at the poets who spin entire new worlds with words, worlds that evoke a sense of calm or joy, or even a few tears. Who is this person I’m becoming? 〰️ This line stopped me-“There is no way to be sufficiently grateful for the gifts we are given, no way to speak the Lord’s name often enough, though we do try...Now spring has come and (heaven’s windows) are open wide” Mary Oliver 〰️ This is summer sketch 2/70. Feel like I overworked it a bit-but I’m just going to turn the page and keep going. Carpe Diem and all. 😉
Summer Vacation Day 1/70 🌊 . I think we started this thing off right! One of my goals while I’m summer break is to sketch daily. The time off of work gives me the chance to grow as an artist, and sketching daily is just one way to stretch my skills. I’m also taking a few classes on Skillshare, I’m excited for a summer of learning and playing and feeling hopefully optimistic that I will commit to daily sketches... 🤷♀️
It’s the first day of summer vacation and I think it’s obvious what’s on my mind! Beaches and water and sand. 🌊 . This sketch is loosely inspired by the satellite view of the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshal Islands, where our friends @changing_focus_ministries live and serve. And we just sent off one of new high school graduates to spend 5 weeks over there serving and helping them. Someday I want to go too-for now, this sketching time/ prayer session will have to do 😉
The last of the peonies-it’s such a short season but I enjoy every bloom! Also, I enjoy a clean desk. That is also typically a short season 🤷♀️🤣
It’s the last day of school! It’s been a great school year, but we are so very ready for summer!! 🤸🏻♂️ . To celebrate, I just added “Friday State of Mind” to the shop!
Scenes from my desk. 🌊 . This is a rework of a smaller one from the sketchbook that I posted the other day. I felt like I wanted to explore these shapes and lines again in a little bigger format. If nothin else, art makes me happy and I just love to play with no agenda or plan, but simply because it’s fun. The best form of therapy! . . . . #abstractsketchbook #sketchbookart #cotfasketchbook
“Love Song for Foxes” 30x40 just added to the shop!
