I love those little moments of relaxed elegance. The day has been planned, the vendors paid, the effort made, the vows vowed…and now it’s time to enjoy. #thosemoments #letsgetmarried #elegantweddings #styledshootsacrossamerica #coloradoweddingphotographer #elegantelopements #ashography

Congratulations to Madison & Gatlin who tied the knot yesterday! This cutie couple just graduated from college and was on a 10 day graduation celebration trip across the country and decided to elope in the San Juan Mountains, taking the @arborhouseinn up on one of their elopement packages. We jumped in the car and hit up 5 locations along the continental divide and danced in the sunlight with a champagne pop to celebrate. I ❤️ Elopement Couples. #letsgetmarried #sanjuanmountains #elopementlove #rockymountainbride #champagnepop #coloradomountainwedding #elopementphotographer #ashography

Let’s wander where the WiFi is weak. The weather is warming up and I started on a baby hike this last week where we did trail work and cleared out a beast of a tree blocking the pathway. I have to admit it the pruners I had were not the right tool for this particular task and I mostly ended up watching the guys tackle it with their chainsaws. I felt a bit useless. Then I had to pause for a second and remember I still had work gloves, I still had my pruners and took off other limbs from other parts of the trail, and I still got out and showed up. I may not have been the right person or had the tools for that task, but I was there and a part of it and I rooted on the ones that were equipped for the task. Sometimes you are the one with the chainsaw and sometimes you are the one needing the obstacle cleared by others. And that my friends, is called life. #deepthoughts #mountainlife #trailhiker #getoutsideandplay #getoutsideandexplore #coloradoelopementphotographer #ashographymoment

We just replaced five screen doors at the house and I’ve been thinking a lot about open and closed doors. The funny thing about the nature of screen doors is that even when closed, you can see through to the other side and know exactly what lies over the threshold. You can see it, but the door is still closed. It can seem cruel to be able to see the great beyond and yet still have a shut door, but what if it’s actually better to be able to see it and have hope knowing what’s on the other side. It’s hard to have hope for what you can’t see if the door feels locked tight. It’s not until the time is right when that door opens and you can prance through to whatever’s on the other side that’s been stared at for so long. I’ve shot many a bride and groom who finally get to walk through their metaphorical doorways. Yeah, screen doors are funky but they definitely serve a purpose. I personally like our new ones because they soft-close. No more slamming! #deepthoughts #thursdaythoughts #closeddoors #elopementphotographer #coloradobridetobe #mountainelopement #opendoors #opensesame #ashography

Do what do you do when you have grandma’s vintage wrap and your favorite dress? You twirl your dress, kiss your man, and say some vows. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to picnic and champagne pop with a toast! One of the reasons I like being the in-house photographer at a b&b and other local mountain venues, is that the elopement packages that include lodging, a date night, flowers, cake, minister, and photographer that jets you off to epic scenery for a picnic creates a stress free adventure with memories of a weekend together you will have forever. Cheers to all inclusive elopement packages and vintage wraps from grandma. #allinclusiveweddings #elopementpackage #southforkcolorado #coloradoelopementphotographer #coloradoelopement #letsgetmarried #picnicwedding #vintagevibes #ashography #shesaidyes

I love those moments between a couple that are just between the two of the them. Those little looks, sweet touches, and inside jokes that no one else would get. Those are the best. #coloradomountainelopement #rockymountainbride #coloradoelopement #coloradoelopementphotographer #sanjuanmountains #coloradomountainweddings #ashography

Are you? Are you though? I wasn’t. I was not ready for things to shut down, for my industry to get turned upside down, or for the snarling political upheaval that makes me frown for a lot of reasons. My couples were not ready for all the changes and unknowns, but we’re all doing our best to pivot and make the best of it. (I love my clients!) We’re all on this merry-go-round together trying not to get spun off. Ok, so now what? We’re now one month in to this new year. What can I prepare for? I was not ready for this kind of change. I don’t know if anyone was. Taking a moment to dial in to what God has for me in this next season, my word for this year is FOCUS. What can I ready my mind, body, heart, and personal world for? I’m focusing on a few new things that I’m working towards. I’m ready and preparing for some things—ready to laugh, to hug again, and to continue to set vision and goals to keep my eyes and hopes on things ahead. I’m shifting. Get ready for the shift. Ready, set...here we go!

This winter has been drop dead gorgeous. I got caught in a snowstorm this week as I was driving one of the three mountain passes back home and had to abandon plans and stop for the evening. After seeing the third car that had slid into the ditch I realized I had no business being on the roads. Low and behold I randomly ended up pulling over and staying the night at this awesome historic little lodge that had a 125 yr old renovated cabin filled with charm and history. I spent the night by the fireplace reading about all the shenanigans of that happened on property throughout the 40’s, including how the highway was built, the temper tantrums of the cooks, the bizarre neighbor that sold shrooms, the wild burros that roamed the property, and the parties and soirées of the day. As I walked along the river enjoying the views from the many bridges, I was taken in by the magic of it all. I had to laugh later that night as I delivered frozen groceries that had stayed in the car from my impromptu overnight. I have to admit, sometimes forced pauses and hard left turns from our original plans can bring the best reasons to smile. #coloradowinter #frostymorning #winterriver #glenisleresort #ashography
