Today I received an email from my PastSelf from 4 years ago (swipe left to see). You may not know this, but for the past 10 years, I’ve been emailing my FutureSelf. Not like obsessively, but I would get maybe 3-5 emails per year that date anything between a year ago to... well, many years ago. Like today. And today’s email hit me hard. Sometimes, we get so busy and buried in our own self doubts and limiting beliefs that we forget how far we’ve come. Today was a beautiful reminder of that! So I wanna encourage you too to stop for a moment and acknowledge how much you’ve accomplished. How much you’ve done. HOW AMAZING YOU ARE! When I was 8, I was selling personalised handmade friendship bracelets at my school. At the age of 9, I made beaded animals on keychains and sold it to my classmates (clear upgrade from the friendship bracelets) At 10, I partnered up with some friends and we sold personalised gingerbread cookies and tree decorations for last-minute shoppers. At the age of 11, twice a week, I would bulk buy croissants and pain au chocolat before school and sell them for profit during morning break when the bakery was closed. When I was 12, I learned the basics of HTML and sold code snippets to make your MySpace and Skyrock pages prettier. At 16, my mom's friend taught me how to make acrylic nails and I set up a hidden nail salon in my boarding school on weekends. This ran until I got busted by the schoolmaster 6 months later. What crazy side hustles did you create when you were younger?
With only 24 hours in a day, it’s not always easy to understand what to focus on in your business and how to make time for YOU in it as well. It’s been a week since we launched the new website for @mollyandtom and WOW what a successful launch it was! One of the feedback they received is how intentional the new design is thanks to the behind-the-scenes videos and other little touches we added to their site like this set of gorgeous icons! So many new faces here 🥰I wanted to say hello and reintroduce myself for those who may not know me too well yet!⠀ ⠀ I'm GIgi 👋🏼 Well... My full name is Yevgeniya Davarashvili but I think we'll all agree that Gigi is MUCH easier to pronounce and remember!⠀ ⠀ I'm Ukrainian-born, I grew up in Switzerland and am now based in London.⠀ ⠀ I'm a corporate marketing dropout turned brand designer and web strategist and, honestly, sometimes I still have trouble realising I've been running my own gig for over 4 years. Like... GIRL, YOU'RE DOING IT! Anyone feels the same way?⠀ ⠀ My approach to design is quite different. Heck, I actually tell people I'm a marketer first and designer second, because my process focuses on helping my clients grow their businesses, increase their conversions and selling out their products or services.⠀ ⠀ I'm a sucker for all dogs, every dog and any dog... and have watched Grey's Anatomy at least 8 times. It’s Launch Day for @mollyandtom 🎉 We worked so hard over the past few months on realigning their business with a new direction, understanding their target audience and customer behaviour, and designing a heart-centred website that aligns perfectly with all their brand stands for. And the result? Their first order came through 9 minutes after the launch announcement. NINE MINUTES! Our custom Launch Strategy helped them build hype and excitement around the launch with hundreds of people signing up to their waitlist and visiting their website on its launch day. Let’s talk about the most clicked button on your website - your navigation icon! It’s a small little icon that means so much on a website as it’s main purpose is to be easily identifiable and navigate the visitors to their next destination. More and more I come across websites that don’t have a top-level navigation on their desktop sites (mine included), but use a menu icon instead. A couple of years ago this would be considered non-sense as it would confuse your desktop visitors. However, as we use our phones more and more for browsing, we became so used to seeing this hamburger menu that seeing it on desktop is not a surprise anymore. Using a menu icon on desktop is particularly useful if: 🖤 You have a large navigation 🖤 You want to keep your design clean & minimal 🖤 You want to use your navigation as a marketing app (i.e. include more info in the navigation, like a lead magnet) 🖤 You want to encourage people to scroll through your homepage first What about you?
