It’s time to listen & learn. I am participating in #amplifymelanatedvoices, a movement started by @jessicawilson.msrd & @blackandembodied, and hitting mute on *my usual content*. Starting now until June 7th, in an effort to amplify the voices that need to be heard, I’ll only be sharing what pertains to blacklivesmatter and I’ll be listening, reading, educating myself, donating, and putting in the work so I can be a better ally. 🖤🤎🤍
Typically what I share here are the things that make me happy - cooking, healthy recipes, and my family, but I cannot silently sit with my heavy feelings and not share them here for the sake of keeping it a cheerful space. We think that being accepting of others and embracing each other’s differences is enough, but it’s not, it’s nowhere close. We need to take action, take a stand, to have the hard conversations, ask the uncomfortable questions, and push each other to know better and to be better. We need to educate ourselves, teach each other, and stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard... especially when it’s hard. It starts at home, and you better believe I will teach my son the power of standing up for others, having the strength to speak up, and fighting for equality. #blacklivesmatter image via @oliviaherrickdesign
Oh hey sweet summer, I see you coming! 🍑🌱🍅 When I opened our produce box this week to find peaches & nectarines, I knew this Tomato & Peach Caprese had to happen immediately. The fresh, juicy ingredients make this salad shine so you really don’t even need to measure and can throw this salad together easy peasy! Just toss some peaches, cherry tomatoes, red onion, mozzarella, and fresh basil in a good olive oil, balsamic, salt and pepper, and you’re good to go. So fresh and so delicious!! (And if you prefer to follow exact measurements, the full recipe is on the blog under salads 😉).
