Years 5 and 6 joined forces to raise awareness of the climate issues currently affecting coral reefs in our oceans. 🪸🌊

🌱 New Beginnings in the Dirt! 🌼
Our school’s Gardening Club officially kicked off today, and let’s just say we didn’t mind getting our hands a little dirty! 🧤
We spent the session tackling an overgrown flower bed outside the Year 6 classroom and hauled away the old, crumbling edging.

Bug Watch: While digging, we discovered a whole world of mini-beasts! 🐜 From wiggly worms to shiny beetles, our soil is definitely full of life. We even found a moth that took a liking to Mrs Gale ♥️

We’re so proud of our green-thumbed team. Stay tuned to see what we grow next! 🌿✨

Today’s Highlights:
Master Builders: Constructing waterproof shelters to stay (mostly) dry! ⛺
Bushcraft Skills: Whittling custom tent pegs and poles with small knives. 🔪🪵
New Neighbors: Making friends with a tiny frog who loved the damp weather. 🐸
There’s no such thing as bad weather, just great memories and very muddy boots! 🌲💦

Today, our Year 6 classroom was a hive of creativity and reflection as pupils began work on the Bags of Hope initiative. This annual project, organised by @cofewinchester encourages students to explore empathy and the experience of displaced persons through the story The Suitcase.💼

We have been busy crafting colourful luggage labels inscribed with our own heartfelt poems and prayers.💙

In a few weeks, these tags will join thousands of others from other schools in the Diocese to form a spectacular art installation at @winchestercathedral . We cannot wait to spot our tags in the cathedral when we visit on the 25th June. With the weather heating up, we want all our pupils and families to enjoy the water safely. Did you know that accidental drowning incidents in England have doubled over the last five years?

It’s a sobering statistic, but awareness is the first step to prevention.

📍 Where do risks occur?
Accidents can happen anywhere, not just at the beach. Keep an eye out at:

At Home: Baths, garden ponds, hot tubs, and paddling pools.

Public Spaces: Swimming pools, canals, and local lakes.

Open Water: Rivers and the sea, where hidden currents and cold temperatures can be dangerous.

Let’s look out for one another and make sure this summer is memorable for all the right reasons! 💙
