Year 1/2 went to Shree Jalaram Mandir & Community Centre to learn about the Hindu culture. The learners had a chance to see the Aarti Ceremony and we had a presentation and taught about the different pillars of the Hindu Culture.
๐๏ธ๐ธ Learning beyond the classroom ๐ธ๐๏ธ
The learners were respectful, curious and asked thoughtful questions, gaining a deeper appreciation of different faiths and traditions. A valuable experience that supported our learning about community, culture and respect ๐๐

๐โป๏ธ Science in action: sustainability & food waste โป๏ธ๐
Last week in science, Birch class pupils explored sustainability and food waste and took their learning beyond the classroom. We spoke directly with our brilliant kitchen staff to find out what food is most often wasted, why it happens, and what small changes can make a big difference.
The children shared thoughtful ideas about portion sizes, choosing wisely, and appreciating the food weโre given. It was fantastic to see them making real-world links and thinking responsibly about how we can all help reduce waste. ๐ฑ
Learning that matters โ for our school and for our planet ๐๐

Yew Class went to an ๐Apple workshop at Westfield and it was AMAZING!
We learned how technology helps people create, draw, problem-solve and share ideas.
'Yew' would not believe how much fun we had - we showed our super listening and teamwork skills too ๐๐We were curious, confident and creative โ just like real designers and inventors! ๐กโจ

Y4 have in their first lesson of Art & Design, considered the definition of 'sculpture' and learning simple techniques for turning 2D card shapes into 3D structures. They needed to ๐งฑa 3D structure that could stand on its own. Well done. Next session they will be joining materials in different ways and to make larger structures! ๐

EYFS finished the Autumn term with their magical performance - 'Whoops-a-Daisy Angel.' Do you remember performing when you were their age?
They had a visitor too! His presence was rather giving too :-)โโ

The British Museum Y3 & Y4 trip. Our children got to see real artefacts - primary resources relating to Prehistoric Britain and Europe.
A special thank you goes to our wonderful adults/parents & carers that accompanied us.
The children learnt how people in Prehistoric Britain lived very differently from us. They didnโt have phones, shops or schools like ours โ but they were still clever, creative and great problem-solvers.
History helps us understand that life, people & 'new ideas' help the world move forward. By looking at stone tools, homes and artefacts, they discovered how humans adapted to survive. Each change they made helped shape the world we live in today.
History also helps us think about the future.
The past explains the present โ and the present helps shape the future.
Remember:
WE are now part of history too. ๐โจ

Y3 & Y4 are studying 'Rocks' in the chemistry branch of science. They have been trying to identify them and build on their prior learning. Children may think that all rocks are hard and cannot break easily or that all rocks are heavy and therefore will sink.
Challenge - can YOU identify ๐ picture 1 and 3?
Do you like these?
a) What do you call rock homework? Hard work!
b) Why was the rock always tired?
Because it was constantly under pressure.
