Local musician (and UCSB alum!) @connercherland will be taking over our Instagram tomorrow as he plays a live virtual concert, from our patio!! We miss having folks congregating at the store to enjoy events like this in-person, but this is a great opportunity to feel connected in a different sort of way, for different sorts of times #6FeetApartButTogetherAtHeart π» Tune in on Instagram Live tomorrow (Friday) between 5.30 and 6.30pm to hear Conner play his signature mix of live guitar looping, foot percussion, and singing πΈπ₯π€ which he has so generously offered to share with us to brighten spirits! π» ***While the performance will be happening on the patio and you may enjoy hearing music as you enter and exit the store, social distancing measures will be strictly enforced and we instead strongly encourage everyone to tune in virtually! Donβt let that stop you from having a dance party with your housemates and enjoying happy hour sips to this awesome music!*** π» #virtualpatioconcerts #islavistafoodcoop #todayatthecoop #socialdistancing #grocerieswithheart #inthistogether

Itβs a beautiful morning to stock some groceries! πͺππ§π₯ We are so appreciative to the hands that work overnight to pile our pallets high so we can down-stack them for our shelves, and for you to bring home for your nourishment. πππThe warehouse workers of @unfi are a hidden backbone of our co-opβs main distribution system. When COVID pandemic shopping erupted into our supply and distribution chains, the workers at @unfi were tasked with insurmountable challenges to stack cases and move pallets on a beyond-human scale. πππ Hands touch and move cases at all parts of our food system, especially while many of us are sleeping... our warehouse workers and truck drivers are the lifeblood of the grocery industry and not often seen. πππ So donβt forget to smile and wave when you see a 48-foot semi truck driving by... you might never know the night and day these folks are facing with huge challenges at warehouses and receiving docks, and their ongoing quest to make sure stores big and small get our precious loads of groceries, produce and essentials, so our communities can stay healthy and fed and safe. π½πππ» #thankyoudrivers #thankyouwarehouseworkers #knowthehandsthatfeedyou #secretheroes

an important PSA from our General Manager about social distancing: We went for a walk to get coffee and realized a critical problem hadnβt been solved when we saw a person walking up the street and we didnβt know how to keep six feet. At the same time weβd been ruminating on the well-intended but poorly-named new lifestyle requirement of social distancing, and BOOM! Problem solved.... You just have to do the social disβdance! Donβt forget to keep six feet apart (but together at heart) while shopping in our little co-op by the sea! πππ #socialdisdance #socialdistance #sillious #islavistafriendly #hipsoutarmswide

Attention! As part of our ongoing efforts to be good community members amidst the COVID-19 situation we have closed our high-use coffee bar π«βοΈ due to its self-serve nature. We know you all will miss our delicious Fair-Trade and organic coffee, mate, and tea offerings, but not to fear, Isla Vista still has options to get your morning cuppa! π βοΈ @cajecoffee and @bagelcafe.iv are still OPEN and doing take-out! Both use locally-roasted beans and support other local businesses in turn. We encourage you to shift your coffee needs to either of these awesome cafes and #spreadlovenotviruses #supportlocal in IV and beyond! π» We also still have a full assortment of cold bottled caffeinated beverages, from cold-brew lattes to mate to matcha to black tea! π» #coffeeinthetimeofcovid #grocerieswithheart #6FeetApartButTogetherAtHeart #todayatthecoop #islavistafoodcoop #cooperatenotcorporate

This is what community food resilience through strong partnerships looks like! πͺβ‘οΈβ‘οΈ Weβve been sourcing and supplying for several @ucsantabarbara food access programs as they have developed over the past few years under the #globalfoodinitiative and the ongoing (incredible!!) Basic Needs and Food Security programs and resources that UCSB (students and staff!) have implemented to best support low-income / food insecure students. ππππ₯ Since COVID has deeply impacted these regular food access programs and thereβs been a large uptick in needs, weβve moved into being an emergency food crisis resource, including supplying and helping fill yesterdayβs Kosher/Halal grocery bags. This program was created to support food insecure students that canβt easily access food through the general foodbank due to more specific dietary requirements. ππ₯π§ππ₯ We are proud to be a partner to the incredible work of our UCSB Food Security & Basic Needs Taskforce, and look forward to keeping our community nourished and healthy! π»π»π»π»π» #cooperatenotcorporate #grocerieswithheart #thehandsbehindthebags #sixfoothighfives

Social distancing high-five (foot??)! Just a reminder that we have revised our policy on shirt and shoe requirements ππ to reflect the reality of the current public heath situation - all shoppers must now wear shirts and shoes to enter the store! We know the weather is getting warm and sunny and it almost feels like a normal Spring Quarter here in IV, but for the safety of ALL involved, we must shift our habits during these times. Thank you for respecting our efforts to protect our community, our staff, and YOU! π» #cooperatenotcorporate #smallstorebigvalues #communitysupport
