  • Yesterday my boys left to head up the coast to a caravan park so they could do some mountain biking and surfing at a new spot for a few days. I’ve always been a big advocate for being both a present mama and to keep growing in my career. Yep, we can have it all. Except, sometimes we can’t. We can’t be in two places at once so it’s deciding in each moment, what’s most important for right now? I wasn’t going to come away for these last few days of school holidays because there’s just so much to do. Between book launch next month, our Palm Springs retreat and a bunch of incredible new clients, the fun is full on. When they left yesterday though, I got soooo much work done. House to myself and no interruptions is a recipe for productivity. So this morning, after my last meeting at 11am, I checked my task list and checked my inbox for urgency and decided that everything else was less important at that moment. I jumped in the car and headed up to three very happy boys. I have another meeting tomorrow at 2pm so I have 24 hours of holiday. I was wondering whether it was worth it, whether I should have just stayed and actually got ahead of a heap of work instead of just doing what I had to do, but then my sons just caught a wave together, then looked up towards me on the beach to see if I was watching. They saw that I was and they beamed. All they want is for me to see them, love them and cheer them on. Work will wait, but if I don’t take the time to just sit and watch them and laugh with them, I miss the most important thing of all. #myboys #workingmum #worklifebalance
