Do you miss connecting in person? So do I! 2020 was quite the ride (and the ride isn't over yet!). We kicked off the year with packed rooms at our in-person "Dare to Connect" events in Jan and Feb in Boulder, CO. Then we had to cancel our March event that was scheduled the week everything shut down. From there … well, we’ve been navigating how to move forward (just like everyone else). Although Zoom fatigue has become a REAL thing, Zoom is also a blessing that's allowed us to continue connecting with our Colorado Daring Fempreneurs AND now our international members too! And our 2021 schedule is set! If you want to make new connections, nourish existing ones and turn your "networking" into long-lasting friendships and powerful business relationships ... ... then MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 12 - 1:30 PM Mountain Time! We can't wait to get to know you and your business! ➟ RSVP for our January 20th event at the link in my bio (that's tomorrow!). Did I mention it's FREE?!

I've been contemplating what happiness means to me lately ... For me, it's the simple things. I'm happiest when ... 🌿 I'm in nature ... when I can feel the sun on my face and the dirt between my toes. 💪 I feel physically healthy and fit ... when I experience the unstoppable energy that comes from taking care of my body (in 2020, I jumped on the Peloton bandwagon and haven't looked back!) . 🧘♀️ I experience spaciousness - to me, this means having the time to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, cook a delicious meal, dig deep into meaningful conversations with my hubby, to pause and breath and feel gratitude in the moment. 🚐 I'm exploring ... oh how happy I feel when I'm on the open road, experiencing new places, people and things. 🎨 I'm creating ... courses, programs, workbooks, Trello boards, client brands ... I LOVE the creative process. What about you, what makes you most happy?

Here's the difference between 6 and 7 figure biz owners and those who spin their wheels around 50K year after year: The high earners make friends with making mistakes and even embarrassing themselves in front of their audience 😲. They grow through TAKING ACTION and learning from their mistakes. Let me tell you a little secret: I STILL, after leading hundreds of events (over 600 to be exact!), sometimes leave feeling like I made a fool of myself over something I said. I STILL, after shooting hundreds of videos, hit "stop" and sometimes worry about how I looked too much at my notes. I STILL, after being in business for over 10 years and helping hundreds of clients build and scale their brands, sometimes struggle with imposter syndrome. And I STILL, despite these things, continue to take action and keep moving forward. ACTION is my most powerful teacher. It shows me things I could never see by trying to "think" my way into being ready. And it's taught me that perfection is BORING! Because as much as I've strived for perfection in the past (and sometimes I still have to shut up "Perfect Polly" in my head), nobody is inspired by the perfect leader! Tell me ... do you struggle with perfection? What opportunities do you believe it's holding you back from achieving?

I know, you might be thinking "2020 was a terrible year, let's just move on & forget about it". In many ways, I agree. But even amidst the chaos, loneliness, division & uncertainty ... I consider myself blessed and privileged to be able to have come through it with some pretty powerful insights. The biggest gift I received from 2020 was the permission to slow down & prioritize my own health and happiness no matter what. There were a lot of uncertainties & roaring emotions, & as a Virgo who likes to have some sense of control & certainty in my life, this was really difficult at first;-) In 2020, pretty much everyone had their own shit going on, so the outside world became unpredictable. I could no longer look to experiences, relationships, clients, my business, etc. to establish a sense of self worth or the certainly I was looking for (not that I should have ever been doing this, but you know how it goes sometimes) - I had to create it within myself. At first, I went into a deep place of questioning about what I want from my life and what my priorities truly are … in my business and beyond. And I found a deep sense of groundedness within myself beyond my business. 2020 also taught me how to be compassionate with myself on a whole new level. I tend to be so critical, judgmental & hard on myself. But to keep my mental health in 2020, I had to practice letting the criticism & self judgment go. There was so much pain happening in the world around us, that I knew if I added to that pain with my own self criticism, that I’d end up miserable. So I practiced being kind to myself. Letting myself rest when I felt tired. Giving myself the gift of yoga & meditation in the mornings. Turning my focus more to what felt good ... rather than pushing and hustling for bigger & better, I practiced being content with who I was, where I was. I have some pretty big goals for 2021, but I will not sacrifice my personal health or happiness in the pursuit of achieving them, because without health & happiness what’s the point of achieving goals, right? What's a gift from 2020 that you'd like to carry with you into 2021?

It's easy to get caught in the comparison game, but before we do, let's step back and define what "success" actually looks like in our world. Because it might look very different to you than it does to me and that's ok! For example, I came across a FB friend the other day who shared how she despised camping and felt more at home in 5-star hotels. Even though being able to stay in a 5-star hotel might be a standard of success for some ... for me, no matter how much money I have, I'll pretty much always choose to be in nature over fancy hotels. For me ... the freedom to hit the road, explore the mountains, wade through rivers, feel the sun on my face, wind in my hair and dirt between my toes ... (and actually be present, content and joyful while doing these things) is SUCCESS! There are SO MANY messages (many contradictory) about how we "should" lead our lives and businesses. But there's not only one way to be successful or one path to get "there." So next time you're scrolling through Instagram and find yourself getting caught in comparison, STOP and remember that YOU get to decide what success looks like to you. Maybe it looks totally different than the perfect mom with 3 beautiful kids and million-dollar home. And if it does, why would you compare yourself to that standard anyway? How you live your life ... the business model you choose ... the strategies you follow ... should align with the life and business YOU want to build - not someone else's. So tell me, what does success look like to you!?
