My first ride in a #TUKtuk wasn’t what I had expected at all. It was definitely the quickest way to get around Bangkok. Everyone has a different opinion on the safety of a tuk tuk. It wasn’t what I had expected because I had only seen negative reviews of traveling via tuk tuk. Personally, I felt that crossing the street was more dangerous than a ride in a tuk tuk. Haha! Actual video of me crossing the street coming soon! Rides were fairly inexpensive. Now that I’m trying to recall, I don’t remember an exact price- which means it wasn’t outrageous! 😂 Have you ridden in a tuk tuk before? #bangkokthailand #jessicagriffintravels #thailandtravelinsider #thailandonly #locallife #localpeople #visitthailand #lovethailand #thaitemple #lostinthailand #thailandtrip #bangkoktravel #visitbangkok #amazingthailand #bangkoktrip #explorethailand #tourismthailand #travel #newvideo #travellog #wanderlustwednesday #goprohero7black
I’m so excited to share details from my trip to Thailand! It means I get to relive the experience all over again, without having to endure the dreaded flight! I do not sit still well! 🤣 So I landed in Bangkok around 2am, grabbed a cab and stayed at this cute little hostel called BedBox. There’s nothing mysterious about the name. It’s literally boxes of beds. The staff was very kind and spoke English well enough to communicate without difficulty. The main areas were not air conditioned, however, the rooms were. This was my first time staying in a hostel, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve included photos of the entry, the stairs going up to the common area and the amenities available on our floor. I’ll add the photos to my story so you can see them in their entirety. What I liked about this hostel: ⭐️ the private curtain. For sure! ⭐️ the location. ⭐️ the cleanliness. If I were to go back to Bangkok, with the intention of being close to Khaosan Road, I would choose a different hostel. The total for three nights, two adults was $34.31 that includes a private room one night. Have you ever stayed in a Hostel, what was your experience?
Have you ever had déjà vu? That one moment you KNOW you’ve done this before. You’ve lived this moment, touched that door knob, walked through that exact door... I long for those moments. For me, it feels like confirmation that I’m on the right path. That I’m exactly where I should be. It’s that moment that keeps me pushing on. Have you experienced déjà vu before, if so, what was your experience?
Today my sweet little nephew celebrates his first birthday! I’m incredibly thankful for FaceTime. Being able to see this little guy virtually really closes the gap, making it possible for this little guy to know who we are despite the miles that separate us. Wishing you the happiest birthday little man!
If I don’t have anything to say that adds value, I won’t say anything. This is one of those times. Honestly, what could *I* possibly say to add value to this incredible view? Let’s just enjoy the view.
Yesterday we celebrated @awesomehops’s birthday. Today he was able to enjoy his birthday gift from @samueladamsbeer; a bottle of #utopias! #utopias2019 #happybirthday #samadamsutopias #samadams #instabeer #beerlover #beerlove #beerlovers #beerme #craftbrew #craftbeersnob #🍺 #beertime #beergasm #beertasting #beerlife #fortheloveofbeer #beerpics #craftbeerenthusiast
Some days move along much faster than others. As a whole, however, this year has flown by. Can you believe there are less than ten weeks until 2020? Do you love this time of year; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas? In a past life I would stress about Christmas. I thought my kids needed to wake up on Christmas morning to a tree full of gifts. The hours spent shopping, $1000’s on gifts and hours of wrapping, I was going crazy. But seeing their little faces lit up by the Christmas tree, sparking packages with glitter paper and perfectly tied bows made it all worth it. After a few years of my kids not even remembering what they received for Christmas, I was over it. 🤣 I decided experiences were the much better option for my family. For the last five years, at least, we’ve enjoyed a variety of activities such as front row tickets to the Fort Worth tree lighting parade. Or, tickets to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We’ve rented a cabin in the mountains one year and enjoyed a snowed in Christmas. A few things we do every year, we make cookies with friends. Visit a home that’s decorated with so much Christmas cheer it’s bursting at the seams! We drive through neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights that play along to songs on the radio. The gifts they receive, a new pair of pajamas, a mug, and a movie. Last year we picked names out of a hat and handmade a gift for that person. It was so much fun! I’ll share photos of what we made in my story. Obviously Christmas is on my mind. It’s one of my favorite times of year. Mainly because of the break. I enjoy staycations and spending time with my family.
As much as I fight it, I thrive on routine. If you take me out of my comfort zone where everything is comfy cozy, I fail. Miserably. Typically I drive everywhere. It doesn’t matter how far it is, I drive. I once drive from Southern California to Boston, Massachusetts in three days. Let’s just say, I’ll never do that again… in so few days. Flying really amps up my OCD. Sitting on an airplane listening to the people around me cough sends chills up my spine. Walking through the airport and seeing a man cough into his hand and then use that exact same hand to open a door, I just can’t. I haven’t always been this way. I can’t even tell you when or why I changed. Maybe it was all five of us getting Swine Flu at the same time. Flying to Michigan last week was fine. It wasn’t until day five that anyone got sick. E quietly threw up in my comfy cozy hat on our drive from one place to another. It wasn’t good. I wasn’t okay. Immediately I was looking for a juicer and making plans to drive home instead of fly. I must have asked 12 different people if they had a juicer I could borrow. I even told my husband we should go buy one and return it when we were done with it. When you travel by air, how do you get the creature comforts of home? I’m not talking a comfy bed or fantastic pillow, though, those do help. I’m talking a juicer! haha. I’m glad to be back home with my juicer and glass drinking straws! I’m currently sipping on some carrot ginger juice made with love by my dear hubby. What is one thing you have to travel with? Asking for a friend… haha! #vegan #plantbased #healthyfood #healthylifestyle #juicecleanse #weightloss #eatclean #juicingforhealth #cleaneating #coldpressed #coldpressedjuice #juicingforlife #cleanse #healing #healingfoods #foodismedicine #plantpower #wellness #healthandwellness #wellnesswarrior #rawfood #medicalmedium #jessicagriffinphoto #glassdrinkingstraws #ecofriendly #vscogirl #savetheturtles #productphotographer #productphotography
Every now and again life happens in such a way that I get a friendly reminder that I am exactly where I should be. I left home when I was 23 years old. I had no idea what to expect. I just got in the car and drove without thinking of the future or the destination. Now here I am, 13 years later. Still not thinking about the future, but enjoying the destination. As I sit at my favorite beach listening to the waves crash, watching my kids play, feeling the warmth from the sun I can’t help but feel at peace. Something I’ve been longing for. Don’t waste a second of your time convincing other people you’re worth loving.
I longed for someone to love me so fiercely that their love was the glue that put all of my broken pieces together again. Thank you, @awesomehops, for being my glue.
