An incredibly serious photo to say I’m going to be in panto. You may baulk, you may think a little of my spirit has dispersed but this is 100% a career high. It feels like everything has been leading up to this moment @grinchmusicaluk #narrator #christmaspanto #thegrinch #peakedtoosoon
I’m half Dutch 🇳🇱, half English 🇬🇧. It’s been announced that Holland has the best work-life balance in the 🌎. The UK is 13th from the bottom. My Dutch side is fighting for my English side. There’s a blog post in my bio on my time working in Amsterdam and why we should be going Dutch #flexappeal #flexibleworking #worktolive #notlivetowork **research from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's latest Better Life Index.
AD | The holiday villa we chose needed to fit this criteria: 1) contain the troops 👶🏻👧🏼 2) have excellent view for Lay’s crisps eating and £3 supermarket rose drinking with two mates and their life appendages. The villa we went with was part of the @jamesvillas Group – a company my mum has used in the past and recommended after trying out Villa Plus and Oliver’s Travels, too. Mumsnet and TripAdvisor reviews are much of a muchness but whatever you do make sure you go through a reputable company – villa scams have been known to lead to losses of up to £5,000 with criminals using fake details to con wearied, hard-saving holidaymakers. At £779 a week (£27 per night per adult) for a veritable palace, this casa in the Costa Del Sol rivals many package holidays and you don’t have to elbow anyone out the way at the all-you-can-eat-buffet. There’s the pastel-hued monolithic Hotel World nearby - complete with life-size plastic elephants and adrenalin-pumping slides - which I made a mental note of never entering. By day five we were fully immersed in the racket because as much as Casa life wins, the kids need to be chucked down a slide or two to stop them going off the villa walls. All-in-all, we wanted a bolt hole that would enable us to get past broken sentences between 👶🏻 needs with two of our best mates in a cracking setting. For child-ravaged humans, this is holiday villa utopia #aplaceinthesun #jamesvillas #pressdiscount **In exchange for a 60% press discount, we agreed to write an objective and independent review, with no copy approval by James Villas. The full review is in the link in my bio and you can find last-minute deals on villas across southern Europe, The US, Caribbean and Egypt. Prices start at £389 per week for a family of four (villa only).**
This is the most important post I’ve uploaded here so please read to the end. This is day one of a 15-year-plan to change the working world for 👶🏻👧🏼. We’ve spent the last six months speaking to 67 government advisors, flexible working consultants, HR directors, the Women’s Equality Party, COO’s, CEO’s, CFO’s, UFO’s 👽. What is Flex Appeal? How can our campaign to fight for flexible working change your life? We know flexible working is the ‘primary way’ to close the Gender Pay Gap. We know there’s hundreds of flexible working bodies already out there. There’s the @cipduk Flexible Working Taskforce, there’s @timewiseuk. There’s @workingfamuk. There’s job sharing consultants @sara_jobsharing. There’s an abundance of research and we don’t need to churn out more stats on WHY flexible working is important. The internet is positively brimming. We’re already lobbying government with the @flex_for_all_ coalition to change the law. What everyone has echoed is missing is the HOW. The case studies. The human stories around managers that ‘went rogue’ to enable their department to work flexibility. Our role in the fight for effective flexible working is in the human story. To create a Rolodex of public and private sector employers over the next 15 years who are getting it right and are willing to share the HOW. We don’t want to lambast, we don’t want to throw stones. We want to create a roadmap - flexible working Top Trump cards if you will - of good practice fuelled by leaders willing to share their success, along with the difficulties, the realities and the practicalities. Flex Appeal started with my story, a human story of a woman who wanted to be able to work and care for her child. Please help us change your story. Please help us find 10 investors (I’m hoping many of the brands I’ve done #ads with will come forward to use my influence in a different way) to find the HOW. Please help us find the leaders getting it right by emailing
or commenting below. We can’t do it alone. We’ve got social change agency Claremont Communications on board. For transparency Matt and I work on this pro bono and you continue to be our colleagues #flexappeal
