• April 10 kicks off the NC Litter Sweep! We need your help to Keep Wilkes Beautiful!

Please drive responsibly, do not litter. Remove trash from your truck bed and keep loose debris secure when driving with the windows down. We have a wonderful group of volunteers @cleanupwilkes who work to keep our roads clean, but they can’t do it alone. They need your help. Contact Clean Uo Wilkes about volunteering or simply start with your own neighborhood.

Contact @ncdotcom who will be happy to supply you with tools to combat litter. Thank you for doing your part!

  • Spring time on the Brushy Mountains; standing in awed silence among the peach blossoms.

Say a little prayer for our growers, as temps will dip back below freezing the next couple of days.

  • Closing out women’s history month we are leaving you with a sweet treat from the @ninasgoodeats crew! The ladies at Nina’s work tirelessly to bring you delicious, family recipes for breakfast and lunch and top notch desserts made fresh daily.

Nina’s Good Eats Bakery and Coffee is a family owned, small batch bakery, coffee shop, and cafe. We pride ourselves in our product, in that we make everything from scratch. Nina's is not only about great food and great coffee, but it is also about the connectedness that great food and great coffee can bring about. At least that is the way the crew at Nina's was raised. Our family spends a good part of the day on our weekends and family vacations sitting together drinking coffee, and eating meals. Coffee and food are what bring us together, and we hope to share that with those in our small hometown.

When you’re in Wilkesboro make a stop at Nina’s to fuel all your adventures!

  • Continuing our celebration of women owned businesses for women’s history month, we stop by Aunt B’s Attic on Main Street! Becky Mullins has been serving the community as a counselor. During her free time she is on the hunt for the best vintage finds. When Aunt B purchased her historic office building in downtown Wilkesboro for counseling, it came with a cute upstairs loft. Ever the entrepreneur, Aunt B has converted the “attic” to a quaint space full of curated, vintage, and mid century finds. She calls the attic her country store for women.”

So come down to Wilkesboro, pay visit to Aunt B and enjoy your Moon Pie that Aunt B will give you, or visit her online at aunt-bs-attic.com

  • When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the spring of 2020, a lot of things changed with the way business was done at Wilkes Art Gallery. For a place that had relied on in-person events and gatherings to show off the visual art on exhibit, not being able to gather indoors was a challenge. But it was one that the women of the art gallery, Ashley Barton and Kayla Merrell, approached with their signature creativity and enthusiasm, and they quickly found new ways to bring art to the people of Wilkes.
