  • BADGER!!! . I was just lying in bed when I heard some scratching and rustling. When I looked out of the window, I could see that our inconsiderate neighbour (NOT the garden in the photo) had left a rubbish bag in their drive rather than use the bin. The bag kept moving, and I thought it would be a fox or something. . I was amazed when I saw this beautiful creature wander back onto the pavement! It walked to our gate, but couldn’t quite squeeze through the gap, so instead went to the garden of our other neighbour (who is lovely.) . Boris the badger (for I have named him such) had a look to see if he could get into the wheelie bin! He was trying to climb up! Once he realised the attempt was futile, he wandered across the road and into another neighbours garden. . We’ve never seen a badger around here, as we’re a bit far from the fields, so I’m absolutely thrilled about this!   • Our first comma butterfly! I saw this from my office window, and instantly knew we’d not seen one in our garden before! . I rushed downstairs and out through the door, only for the little bugger to fly away when I was about to take a photo. . A few minutes later, and with me safely back in my office, it returned! My mad dash resumed and it flew off again! This time though, I sat out in the cold and waiting... . It was five minutes before it returned to where it was feeding and getting some sun, but it once again flew away before I could get a photo! This time it didn’t leave the garden and I managed to get a quick snap of it on the hedge before it flew away. . On my way back inside, it landed on our garden wall long enough for me to get a second photo! .   • Nooooooo! I saw this starling egg under the trees at the back of my mother-in-laws garden. The birds were going crazy around it (crazier than normal for starlings). I rang the @rspb_love_nature wildlife team. The sad news is there’s nothing that can be done. . The birds may have rejected it if they thought it wasn’t going to hatch, or it may have fallen out in which case it’s unlikely to hatch even if I found the nest and put the egg back 😢😢😢 . I’ve left it where it is, so at least the other birds will have a meal. . There is a hatched egg nearby though and lots of starlings, so at least it’s only one bird. It’s little consolation though. .
