• The beginning of a new year always brings the nostalgia from the previous one & allows the chance to reflect on the good (and bad) things that unfolded in order to learn, grow & take those lessons into the next chapter.

We’re not big on setting resolutions for the new year— instead we just set smaller, more tangible goals so they’re easier to accomplish. Here’s a few things we’re focusing on in 2021:

⚡️ Not focusing our entire lives around working and making money. We fell into this hamster wheel for the last few years and while it reaped its benefits, it also took a mental toll on us & didn’t allow us to truly live in the moment without being consumed about work, etc.

⚡️Saying “yes” to things that we are scared to do, and saying “no” to the things that don’t light a spark within us. Another thing we struggled with in 2020 was limiting the things we did from fear and saying yes to things that didn’t serve us in the long run.

⚡️Last but not least— putting our health (mental and physical) first & getting in the best shape as possible. This was another thing we neglected over time since we were consumed in work, but as we’ve realized: you can’t pour from an empty cup & we need to prioritize our health first in order to truly be wealthy.

What are some things you’re focusing on this new year & what are some things you’re letting go of?

  • We took some time to ourselves to truly enjoy the last few weeks of this year with our family & enjoyed some winter activities like skiing, hiking, sledding and snowmobiling!

Snowmobiling was definitely one of the most fun excursions we did this year— it was such a dope way to get out and enjoy the mountains + snow!

This year we knew we needed to have better winter gear since we were going to be dealing with below freezing temperatures majority of winter, so we’re beyond thankful for @_arctix_ for partnering with us! Their winter gear is not only affordable, but it’s also super warm and can be used in up to -25 weather! If you’re looking for new snow gear, you can snag some on @amazon (we’ll leave the link in our bio!)

  • SELF PORTRAITS VS HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER—-

As a business owner, having content of yourself is one of the most crucial aspects of creating a personal brand. It’s how your audience starts to recognize your face & build that know, like, trust factor with your business.

You guys know we love doing our own self portraits—and during quarantine, it gave us a chance to try out something new and expand our creativity.

But here’s the thing— taking self portraits can be a very daunting task & it can be more stressful if you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into!! You have to focus on getting the framing right, nailing the focus, and thinking of your own poses (talk about overwhelming 🤯)

That’s one of the reasons we love working with a photographer (shoutout to @moosestudio) — she helps us with new creative concepts & helps guide us through everything which takes so much stress off of us all together! We were able to get so many more photos in a block of time than if we managed the shoot ourselves!!

So if you’re a business owner, have you ever got your portraits taken? Do you prefer getting direction from a professional or do you enjoy taking self portraits? If so, share your tips in the comments so other creators can crush it with their images🙌🏼

  • A magical morning spent in the mountains ✨ Feeling so ready for the rest of this week since we started it off just relaxing & enjoying some alone time at the spa!

We definitely underestimated how challenging vlogmas would be— it’s a lot of work to film and edit everyday, but it’s been such a great way to push us to create & document our life during this time! Swipe 👉🏼 to see a sneak peek of Day 8 (now live on our youtube!)

What’s something you’re trying to push yourself to do this month? Let us know below 👇🏼

  • If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that it’s okay to take a step back and take time for yourself in order to allow yourself to grow 🔆

The hustle culture has created this anxiety around always having to be working or creating something, to the point where if you aren’t always working then you’re not getting anywhere in life— so it’s been refreshing and much needed to have time where we aren’t required to show up & instead do things for ourself and our mental/physical well-being!

Now that winter is here, we have almost 4 months where we have absolutely zero work requirements except to create for ourselves & do what we want, when we want— which is the first time in years that we’ve had that opportunity!

We challenge you to take some time for yourself this week & do something for YOU. At the end of the day, you can’t pour from an empty cup— so make sure you’re taking care of yourself & giving yourself that love and attention you need 🙏🏼

  • EASY HOUSE PLANTS 🪴 (save + share if you want more tips!)

since we have quite a few plants, we always get asked which ones are the easiest for first time plant parents— so we compiled a few of our favorites to share! Here’s 3 plants that are different than the typical ones you’ll get recommended!

1.) HINDU ROPE— one of our favorites because it’s so unique looking and is pretty easy to care for! they prefer brighter light, and they don’t need to be watered as often which is a plus!

2.) ALOCASIA POLLY— these are another favorite because of the abstract foliage and dark coloring. they prefer to stay more moist and don’t need as much light!

3.) MONSTERA: we have about 6 of these around the house because it’s truly the millennial plant-parent plant! They grow super quickly and product such stunning leaves, it’s hard to not enjoy these! they prefer medium light & medium moisture!

VIEW THE FULL POST ON THE BLOG! (link in bio!) & make sure to tune into day 5 of vlogmas where you can see the BTS of us taking these photos for this set!

  • rien n’est éternal // nothing lasts forever

now that we’re going into the last month of 2020, we made it a goal to do something epic almost everyday when possible— because in this life, nothing is guaranteed & nothing lasts forever.

so we created a list of things we wanted to do before this year ends: snowmobiling, skiing multiple times a week, yoga with the sharks at the aquarium, and more.

we also made the decision that we’re going to attempt vlogmas since it’s the perfect way to document all of our adventures this month & have it to reflect on later on— so if you want to follow along outside of instagram, feel free to head over to our youtube ⚡️
