𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒! I recently sent a newsletter to my list that got so many replies, I knew I had to post about it here.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We unintentionally base all of our decisions on how others will perceive us and on whether we'll get a "hit of praise" to boost our confidence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I recommend saving this post for when you find yourself confused about why you want to do something -- 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭!

𝐈 𝐒𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My entire life, up until a couple of years ago, I was a committed people pleaser and rule follower.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I thought doing something would get me some praise or make someone like me, I was all about it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And the idea of coloring outside of the lines or breaking any rule was completely out of question for me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And then my last bout of burnout happened, and EVERYTHING shifted.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I worked with @yourcareerhomecoming and finally came to terms with the thing I'd known since 2012: 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember when Laura at @yourcareerhomecoming asked the question, "Have you ever considered entrepreneurship?" because my list of career must-haves were very specific:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to have purple hair.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to set my own schedule.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to work remotely.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want a ton of autonomy and freedom to create what I want.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I didn't want to follow anyone else's rules.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to be a coach, but in my own way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes I am so grateful for my burnout for making me realize that my dreams weren't impossible.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And that I couldn't keep putting them on the backburner forever.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I couldn't keep going in a career path that wasn't what I truly wanted anymore.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐈'𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥, 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm telling my story now, because someone reading this will know what I mean: You know you want more, you just don't know how.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Starting and growing a business is so fun and so scary and so lonely. You don't have to do it alone. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 - 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐃𝐌 𝐦𝐞. You CAN get what you want.

Truth 💣 coming your way!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us bang our heads against our desk and carry on working when we feel stuck and unable to figure something out.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We white-knuckle our way to a solution rather than allowing ourselves more time for the solution to come to us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know that your brain keeps working on a problem when you walk away - even when you're not actively thinking about the problem?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's counterintuitive but sometimes you need to let your brain relax to come up with the best solution. And then it actually feels easy instead of forced.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our brains have two modes: free-flowing thinking: creative thinking, daydreaming mode, and process thinking: active problem solving mode.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Strangely, the daydreaming, flow state tends to bring us the best solutions when we're not even trying to solve the problem.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 -- 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮?

SHARE IF YOU RELATE!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☝🏻 Ouch. I know that probably stings for some of you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A pattern I see in my clients:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once "x" happens (I graduate, I finish this project, I get the promotion, I make $5k months in my business)...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can rest and relax. I'll feel GOOD. I'll celebrate. I'll give myself a break.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll feel so dang good because I made that thing happen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WRONG. What actually happens:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 --- 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐟 "𝐧𝐨𝐭-𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬" 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And so the cycle continues on, until you're too burned out to keep it going.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you want to learn more, come join my free community (link in bio), where you'll get access to more support and free trainings!

5 years ago, I drafted my "ideal day" from an exercise in @193countries book The Art of Nonconformity.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last week, I found the draft while cleaning out my Google Drive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ I wake up without an alarm and take my dog Bodhi (I didn't even have a dog 5 years ago!) on a walk around the lake and trails in our neighborhood.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ I put in notice at my 9-5 to go full time in my business where I get to do work I absolutely LOVE that makes a huge impact on the world. I help heal burnout culture + give women financial freedom and it blows my mind every day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ I've become an expert in my field. I'm being asked to speak about burnout in group programs and to networking groups. I get to create and lead workshops and programs that can change people's lives.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ I've traveled the world (23 countries and counting!) and will keep traveling as soon as it's safe to do so again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I say all this not to brag, but to show you it is possible for you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈'𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡.
