☀️ What a scorcher it was over the weekend☀️ We have really missed some of those shady spots in the gardens whilst enjoying the wonderful views. 🌿 . . 🌼Meanwhile the gardeners on duty have been slogging away in the sun and have shared these lovely photos with us. . . 🌿Thanks to @fredos82 @25matteusjack and @leafykay31 for pausing to capture these stills for us. 😊 . #nessbotanicgardens #nessgardens #botanicgardens #@visitchesterandcheshire #ondutygardeners

🌿Ness Botanic Gardens remains closed in response to Covid-19 . . . 🌈Following the most recent government update (on 25 May 2020), we are reviewing the advice that gardens will now be allowed to reopen. We are pleased at this news and are working hard to prepare Ness to welcome visitors again. . 🌿Ensuring the health and safety of our Members, visitors, staff, students and volunteers remains our priority and we will therefore remain closed while these plans are finalised. . 🌈We are currently reviewing the options for re-opening during the first half of July 2020. We will initially re-open to Members only in order limit the number of people accessing the gardens, before opening to all visitors once again shortly thereafter. . 🌿All visitors, including Members, will be required to pre-book a timed entry slot in advance of arrival at Ness. Don’t worry, we will be sharing details of how to book in advance of re-opening. . 🌈We remain extremely grateful for the ongoing support of our visitors and Members during this challenging time, don’t forget you can stay in touch with us online via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our website. 🌳

💦Kids love this spot at Ness. Today would have been the start of the May 1/2 term and the gardens would be full of chitter chatter and shrieks of joy. Instead we will celebrate the start of #nationalchildrensgardeningweek 🌱 in our own gardens. . . We strive to inspire and encourage children to enjoy all aspects of the gardens and hope their experiences will lead to a life long love of plants and nature. 🌿 . . We are missing little Ness-ies, let us know what they are planting/growing/spotting in their gardens this week with #nbgnessies. 🌳 . . #nationalchildrensgardeningweek #nessbotanicgardens #nessgardens #nbg #lockdownactivities #inspiringchildren #gardeninspiration #inspiringthenextgeneration #naturespotting #wildlifespotting #wildflowerspotting

🌼The majestic Primula bulleyana. This beautiful image was taken by @sara_shotley last May. The plant was introduced from the Yunnan Province in China in 1906 by George Forrest and was named after his sponsor and Ness Gardens founder, Arthur Bulley.🌼 . . #nessbotanicgardens #sarabishopphotography #primula #primulabulleyana #flowers #springflowers #botanicalhistory
