So many times in this life we go through seasons of change. Seasons of growth. While we are currently living out that season, and it seems like we have been for the past year, we still find beauty in the simplicity in knowing that even in our days of chaos and uncertainty, we can find beauty in laughing through the highs and lows, knowing who is directing our steps. And though your close whiskers drive me batty at times, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there’s no one else I’d rather ride through this journey with. 📷: @mishellelamarandphotographer . . Today was a mommy day, which is such a treasure, because most days you are a daddy’s girl through and through. But today. . Today I noticed the way you watch me get ready and admire the girl YOU see as mom. The girl I wish I saw more often when I look in the mirror. . You see me as the confident, playful mommy who lets you steal her chapstick and is daily trying to teach you independence, while holding onto your littleness a little longer. You see the mommy who chases nightmares away, but daily tries to cover up her own fears. Fears I pray that you will never have to know or experience. You see the mommy who prays with you, makes crafts with you, and sometimes is too “busy” to change out of her clothes, so you ask me if “I can wear that shirt all day and night”. You see the mommy who puts you first, but struggles often to remember to put on her own oxygen mask before helping others. But these past few months, oh darling, I hope you see that mommy. . The mommy that is holding onto everything she has with hope, and a new light as she trusts Jesus in the road ahead. The mommy that still has days it’s hard to face her own fears, but is still the first one to be there to help you conquer yours. Those monsters in the closet seem to be a little more manageable some days. I hope you see the mommy that despite what worldly knowledge would say, is standing behind our family on her knees, trusting that God will more than move the mountains for us as we step out in obedience. That even on the days where surrender isn’t my first step, you see this mommy listening to the still small voice that whispers, “darling, even if it doesn’t look like I’m moving mountains for you, I’m still moving mountains in you.” But most of all, on my best and my worst of days, I hope you see the mommy that seeks Him first. That seeks the very One who formed you in my womb. Who created you and your brother to be a light in the darkness, and who gave me a husband who is not afraid to tackle and move those Mountains with me, and for our family. I can’t wait for you and your brother watch in amazement as our Faithful Father not only leads us through these waters of new beginnings-but carries us thru.
