I’d be lying if I said it’s been a hard week. Heck, I’d be lying if I said it’s been a hard month. The last few months have been... brutal. As much as I love & rave about entrepreneurship, some seasons aren’t sugarcoat-able. Some seasons are just really freaking hard. I’m tearing up as I type this, but it’s important to share the hard parts of this journey also. Business isn’t always rainbows & butterflies, though that’d be nice. Tonight, I feel discouraged, overwhelmed & overlooked. If anything, I hope this gives you permission to name your own feelings. Tonight we cry. Tomorrow? Everyone in Clubhouse today wanted to know if they should incorporate personal aspects of who they are into their brand. To that I always answer: A RESOUNDING YES. In order for someone to trust you, they NEED to know you. This is why the people you know are always your warmest audience: they know you & they trust you! Can I encourage you to show up? To show your face? To get personal on your social media platforms? I’m a brand & web designer. I’m passionate about leveraging the power of instagram & love teaching other entrepreneurs how to build a community of people who are ready to buy from them. I started my entrepreneurial journey painting toms on etsy. I learned what it truly meant to run a business as a calligrapher in the wedding industry. & I eventually found my way to where I was always meant to be: empowering other biz owners in their visual identities. But. I was also raised by high school sweethearts. I am a middle child who found my role in mediating between my siblings. That cultivated a serious peacemaker in me & my spirit. I hate cilantro. It’s absolutely disgusting & the smell will make me gag. I’m not bougie, but I value aesthetics. I was raised in the church & have really been on a journey of discovering who Jesus is outside of religiosity. I’m the happiest when I have a cafe con leche in one hand & a pastelito in the other. I am passionate about non-toxic living. Breakfast is an event I look forward to every morning. If a butterfly is in sight, I’m like a child on Christmas. I think they are fascinatingly beautiful. I thought I was an enneagram 2 but actually might be an 8… cue identity crisis. I’m figuring it out loollll. I’m a MAJOR empath & will cry if you cry. I’m Jess. A year ago, a friend asked me to speak on instagram strategy at our local @risingtidesociety meeting. I hate public speaking. Like, haaaate it. So my natural inclination was to say no. To think of every excuse I could possibly give her (& myself😂) as to why I’d have to politely decline. But 2020 was the year I promised myself I would make myself uncomfortable. It was the year I promised to put my business before my comfort zone. So through sweaty palms & shaky hands, I committed. I prepared my talk on a flight back home the day before I had to give it, rehearsed it twice, & prayed I wouldn’t cry when I got on stage. Once I got past the nerves & shaky voice, I found myself kinda crushing it? I kept the audience laughing at least, so that was a win in my book 🤪🌸 I knew I had a lot of value to offer when it came to instagram strategy but what I didn’t realize was that this talk would eventually lead to creating a an instagram course that would generate multiple 5-figures in the first week of its launch 🤯💸✨ I harnessed my talents, created a new income stream in my business & helped 125+ business owners learn how to leverage the power of instagram in THEIR businesses.
