If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day so I never have to live without you. - Winnie the Pooh
Babies. Not a sight you'll see around here very often, but many of you don't know I photograph babies in-hospital and home! But right now those of you expecting to deliver soon may be in a panic, and rightfully so. Many are facing childbirth without the comfort of a familiar face (though shout out to OB nurses - I wouldn't have been able to get through without their guidance!) Family, dads-to-be, friends, and photographers aren't allowed in. I get the reasoning and the health and safety of your infant is more important. My heart breaks for you and I honestly don't have any clue how to help. Until I thought about those of you wanting to take those in-hospital photos yourself! I want to help! I'm happy to share any/all tips/tricks if you PM me, but to keep things short and sweet, I'm going to share my top 3 tips for photographing your newborn before you head home. ⠀ ⠀ 1. Turn off those lights, ALL of them, and open your windows to let in that natural light. You can leave your white balance to Auto but I usually switch it to shade - that little house with the lines! If you're using your phone, that's ok, the white balance will auto adjust. ⠀ ⠀ 2. Place that beeb close to the windows if you can, and if not, use the side of the bed closest to the windows, and make sure there isn't anything blocking the light creating a shadow! You'll want to stand in between the window and your beeb (just watch that you don't create a shadow) and shoot away! If you're using your phone, it might seem a bit bright. For iPhones, if you tap and hold your beebs face/eyes it'll show a box, drag the sun icon down and you'll see it get darker! Use this to better control the light! ⠀ ⠀ 3. Don't go crazy editing! You can find presets to use if you have Lightroom (or LR Mobile) but most of the time I'll edit cell phone photos using the Edit feature in Photos! The Auto Edit is a great starting off point, but keep it simple! Those sepia filters aren't doing anything for your photos - trruuust me. 😉⠀ ⠀ BONUS // Get close! Turn on portrait mode if you're using your phone (some cameras even have this function) and shoot those detail shots! Don't be afraid to over shoot, it's worth it!

This? This current storm, you'll get through it. This current storm sucks. I'm with you there. It's lonely, it's boring, it's scary, and it's ruining the idea of ever wearing denim jeans again... #sweatpantsfordays But there will be light at the end of this tunnel. I promise you there are things that could be turning around right now, so let's focus on those instead. Stuck inside for days on end? Maybe it's the one time this year every room in your house could be clean AT THE SAME TIME. (Seriously, if you can accomplish this at any time, you're a wizard.) Are your kids driving you nuts? This could be the family time you have wanted for years but are too busy working. This could be a time to reconnect with your teens. Talk to each other. Play games. Spend time doing things as a family. When it's nice outside, get out there, go for a walk, do some gardening, paint that coffee table you hate. Working from home? Designate a space for your office - and walk away when it gets too much. Read a book, relax, meditate, then get back to it when you're ready. Take it easy, cherish that you're not stuck in a cubicle. If you're essential personnel, first off THANK YOU. I'm sure you're worried. I'm worried for you. It might be difficult to find your path, your calm after the storm, but it too will come. You still have a job, you have income at a time when many of us do not. You're appreciated now, more than ever, for the sacrifices you're making for the greater good. We love you and are happy to support you with whatever you need. Sending all the air hugs your way! This storm is rough guys, but I'm a true believer that everything happens for a reason, and I'm keeping focus on those, rather than the moments that seem scary. I'm here for those of you who have messaged me, and welcome anyone else who may need it. 🖤
I love playing with reflections on shiny floors. 🖤 Second shot for the oh-so-sweet @ashleyrichardsonphotography.
I loved this twist on the guys' boutonnières! It showed off Ryan's passion and the pop of yellow brightened up the look altogether! PRO TIP // (I'm no florist BUT) If you are doing magnets instead of pins for these bad boys - request TWO separate magnets. I've seen WAYYY to many (even with one magnet bar) florals fall sideways because they only have one point of contact. One at the top and one at the bottom would help TREMENDOUSLY. 🌼 VENDORS // @events.at.refinery // @pardswesternshop // @acaestheticstan // @izzieee12 // #lindseylanebridal // #ellarosabridal // @flora_gems // @manlybands // @abbottsflorist // @cakesbylori4u //
Hello, pretty bride-to-be. How's planning that wedding coming? I know it can be stressful (even if you're not facing a world-wide pandemic) and I want to help. I don't want any of my brides to worry, EVER. Life is so much fun without stress. Are you worried about finding the perfect vendors? All you gotta do is ask. I'll share my favorites with you and I'm HONEST about a pro/con list for those vendors I feel may give you MORE stress. 😉 Don't know where to start with your timeline? I got you boo. With a few simple questions asked, I can have that timeline done in 10 minutes. Worried about an overbearing bridesmaid on the day of? Give me a heads up and I'll be happy to be the bad guy advocate for you. FO REAL. Past & current brides, what were/are you most stressed about while planning your wedding?
IT'S THIS GUYS BIRTHDAY TODAYYYYYYY 🎉 Though we won't be going out anytime soon, I hope he knows just how much he's loved. If you see him please help me celebrate him as much as possible today with a happy birthday message to him! Taken from our trip to Iceland, hoods up because we were UNDER a waterfall. 🏞It was the trip of a lifetime and I cannot wait to be able to take many more trips with this guy by my side.
I’ve seen a lot of my fellow boss babes in a panic here lately. And I get it. But in the midst of all this chaos, I want to reach out to you and say this:⠀ ⠀ We will get through this. ⠀ ⠀ Will it be hard? Maybe. Will it get rough? Possibly. ⠀ ⠀ The truth is, I don’t know. I don’t have all the answers. But I know there’s a lot of shit I’ve gone through so far in my 28 years of life, and guess what?⠀ ⠀ I got through.⠀ ⠀ I know it’s stressful. I know it’s going to get tough. If not now during this pandemic, things may get rough in a few years for another totally different reason. You'll hit a rough patch eventually, but I want to remind you that you’ll get through. ⠀ ⠀ If this season has you panicking, I’d love to chat with you about anything that may ease you’re panic. Be it business related or personal. We can set up a phone/FaceTime date and just see where the conversation takes us. I know you're worried, but know you don’t have to be alone. I’m here to lend an ear if you need it. Just send me a message. 🖤⠀ ⠀ I also want to give a shout out to ALL small businesses in the comments! Tag your friends who run small businesses (photographers included!) and if you run a small business; share any specials you may have going rn! Let’s make this a one-stop-shop!
