Hi everyone, it’s Sydney and Ryan!! It’s been a minute so we wanted to say hello! ✨ I wanted to share something a little non photography related during this crazy time in the world. We put social media on the back burner for a while to focus on school, work, and photography. For those of you who didn’t know, I’m in grad school for clinical mental health counseling and art therapy! I learned about art therapy when I was a senior in high school and was amazed that I could combine two of my favorite things: helping others & creativity. From there, I knew my life would somehow get me to the career path of becoming an art therapist. Now, I’m almost two-thirds of the way done with school. We started our business when I began school and it has all been worth it to pursue everything I am passionate about! I could go on and on about art therapy which I may talk about more in the future, but if you’re feeling cooped up at home right now and anxious with what’s going on or what it means for your family/job/work/school, create something. ANYTHING. Even if you don’t think you’re an “artist.” Use clay, finger paint, or decide to knit and do some embroidery (Ryan and I got supplies for that and we are watching tutorials for it 😂). It can be hard to get in the creative zone if you haven’t made art in a long time, but you might surprise yourself with what you create and how much you enjoy it. So put some music on, create something, and just focus on the present. Hopefully it will help you relax a little (or instead feel frustrated about knitting compared to current events lol). Stay safe everyone! 🧡
Why eloping is awesome: you get to create an intimate experience and day for the both of you that focuses on YOUR dreams and YOUR decisions for your wedding day. It gives you the space and opportunity to completely be yourselves so you can be fully in the moment. You can make whatever kind of plans you want to celebrate, whether that’s a helicopter ride, a bonfire with roasting marshmallows, a hike, or picnic. It’s totally up to you, which we think is pretty amazing. If you could do anything for your wedding day, what would you do?! (To our already married friends, this can totally mean an epic vow renewal 😉)
Sunrise is always worth waking up early!! Especially for photos ✨ I mean hey, at least it is later in the morning during the winter months 😉 Planning your elopement or couples session at sunrise usually means that you’ll have the location almost completely to yourselves. Plus, it can feel much more intimate because not as many people watch the sunrise compared to the sunset! Then, you can have the whole rest of the day to celebrate and relax (and go out for breakfast!). Are you a morning person or sunrise is way too early for an adventure?
Happy New Year friends!! ✨ let me tell ya something. Ryan is SUPER passionate about cooking and baking. Me? Not as much, but I love watching Ryan cook (and taste testing his creations of course!). But...let. Me. Tell. You. We (especially Ryan) have wanted a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for years. This year, we received it as a Christmas gift and oh my goodness guys. This may get me cooking more 🤣 if you saw our stories last night, we made pesto fettuccine from scratch! Using the pasta maker has to be the coolest thing ever. Do you guys like to bake or cook from scratch? Especially recipes that give us an excuse to use our kitchen aid! Tell us in the comments!!
Shreya & Rohit are newly engaged and had me come over to Kauai during their vacation to celebrate their engagement with them. Shreya told me about how many romantic Bollywood movies will have a scene in a big, beautiful field. So as we were driving around during our adventure, we found the perfect spot for them to frolic through the golden fields!! Sometimes when Ryan and I are on a road trip or even just going for a drive and we see something cool and we feel that hesitation... “should we pull over?” Say YES! 🧡
During this time of year there is lots to worry and stress about, but I had a moment of clarity where I remembered it is also a time for celebration and joy. I’m back on Kauai today, our family is coming for Christmas, and we have so many amazing adventures to look forward to in 2020 🧡 what is something you’re celebrating?
Hey friends, it’s us!!! It’s been a minute, so we wanted to share our faces on our feed to say hello 🤗 We’re Sydney and Ryan Kroll, a husband & wife photographer duo capturing adventurous elopements, intimate weddings and couples in Hawaii and beyond!! We’re dog parents to our fur baby Louie and love living the island life (although we miss road trips!!). A life update that we’re super excited about: our family is visiting US for Christmas! Basically the day I moved out here to elope with Ry and start our life together, we made a pact to have a Christmas where our family came here to spend the holiday with us in Hawaii. It’s been a holiday we’ve been waiting for for years 🤩 it’s going to be so fun & special for all of us. However, this upcoming week is a little cray cray. We have final assignments for school, finishing up galleries & other business stuff, work, school applications, oh and gift shopping! There’s lots to do before we can unplug and enjoy time with family, so we’re here to say if you’re in the same boat, you’ve got this 😎 what craziness is going on in your life before the holiday?!
I love when couples want to go in the water for their sessions. It can either be playful and cute or super romantic (or both!!). I had so much fun with Ashley and Alex. Sunrise is so worth waking up early to have the beach to yourselves! ✨
