Eloping and engaged couples, there is something amazing about classic cars in a desert landscape. If you have one, incorporate it into your special day like JC & Dana did!! Or, you can always rent one in Palm Springs. What kind of car would include in your elopement or portrait session? đ¤ shot for @jocelynmariephotos

One of my favorite things about living in the Joshua tree area is walking out to our backyard and seeing the snow capped mountains in the distance đ yes, it does snow in the desert! The San Jacinto mountains are one of my favorite parts of driving into Palm Springs. If you plan on eloping Palm Springs, donât miss a chance to have these gorgeous mountains as a backdrop during your day! Shot for @joshuatreevideographer

Newly engaged couples: the adventurous day youâve been dreaming of IS possible. This past year may have made things a little more challenging to plan, but thatâs the best part about elopements; itâs way easier to pivot and be flexible to create an epic day for you and your partner even during these times. Emily and Chris had a venue and a guest list ready. But when things changed due to the pandemic, their hearts were still set on getting married on their already chosen date. So they chose to elope somewhere incredible that reflected their shared love of hiking and the outdoors. It was a quiet morning and they had the beach to themselves. It was heartwarming to see them speechless by their surroundings and expressing how surreal it felt that this was their special day and the story they would share with their family and friends. We know thatâs possible for you too, and we love being a part of planning that magic and helping make your day happen. We wish you all a much happier new year! đ§Ą

Even with a smaller guest count, you can still do an INCREDIBLE ceremony exit like these two. @jocelynmariephotos and I were blown away when they rolled down the aisle like this 𤊠Letâs talk microweddings. Or minimonies. Or intimate weddings. Whatever you want to call it, this is a great option for couples whose wedding plans were affected by COVID-19 (or just couples who know a larger celebration isnât for them!). We have a blog post that goes over whether a microwedding or elopement is right for you and how to change your original plans. It can be a little confusing or disappointing to have your plans change, but weâve learned a lot this year from our own experience and the couples we have worked with. Being in this situation can give you the opportunity to step back and reconsider what you truly value and want to prioritize for your celebration. Although your wedding day may be different than what you anticipated and have to be pushed back, relocated, downsized...it will still be an incredible day, however you decide to move forwardâ¨

Sledding on the sand dunes didnât entirely go as planned but we had a great time anyway 𤣠Utahâs landscapes are truly stunning. I had an amazing day capturing Montana & Kory and loved their adventurous spirits. Itâs your day, so why not go climbing and sledding?!

With that in mind, we hope you have all been able to celebrate and cherish time with family and friends however you can. WHAT DOES AN ELOPEMENT DAY REALLY LOOK LIKE? ⨠For the couples out there ready to elope or who are considering eloping, this may have crossed your mind. There is so much more to modern adventure elopements than a quick ceremony and pictures, as it should be! Itâs the chance for you to dream and have your intimate wedding be exactly what you want it to be. Kayl and Scotty knew they wanted to incorporate their tiny home into the morning and getting ready portion of their elopement. They renovated their RV and have been living on the road for two years! It was so cool to finally check out their tiny home in person and learn more about their adventurous lifestyle. They started the day like any other with coffee, yoga (guided by Kayl!), and hanging out with their dogs, Rogue and Renegade. We then drove down to the redwood forest and hiked together to their dream ceremony location. It was so special to officiate their ceremony for them and listen to their heartfelt vows. Then we wandered through the redwoods for their portraits! We split up for lunch and met back up for sunset portraits by the coast. They were very brave souls and went into the cold water for some epic photos đ We canât wait to share these later on!! It truly was a perfect elopement day. What would you imagine doing for your day if you could do anything??

Loving this all-black look Kendra & Noe rocked for their engagement session 𤊠Some things to keep in mind on what to wear for your engagement session: ⨠You can bring two outfits; one casual, one dressed up if you canât decide between the two! ⨠For dresses, full length and flowy looks the best in photos. We recommend checking out Luluâs ⨠Donât be too matchy and instead, go for colors that compliment each other or choose from a similar color scheme (unless youâre wearing all black!) ⨠Consider the landscape and scenery youâll be taking photos in. For example, Joshua Tree has light and neutral desert colors, so a pop of rich and warm or darker colors contrast nicely ⨠Include fun accessories or elements that show off your personality and love story! Whether thatâs wearing hats, hiking boots, bringing your motorcycle or furry friends along, there are so many ways to bring your personal story into your engagement pictures At the end of the day, what makes you feel confident and comfortable, because itâll make you feel most at ease in front of the camera! đ¤
