• In celebration of @theMQG 10th anniversary, they are re-releasing some of the Quilt of the Month patterns in a new updated color palette. They are calling the quilts MQG Modern Classics. + I am using four of the seven Moda Bella Solids from the color palette for the pattern I have picked out to make. Mustard (9900-213) Nautical Blue (9900-236) Natural (9900-12) Dusk (9900-116) + And, fortunately, I already had the matching Aurifil for each Moda Bella solid.   • I had so much fun making the Reflector quilt from precision piecing the ½” finished sashing to hand appliqueing the bias tape. Michael Miller Hash Dot fabric in Grass was used for the background and Cotton Couture in Avocado for the feature fabric. I love how the dots in the fabric repeat the circle theme. o I debated on the quilting but ended up echoing the circles in the quilt center and repeated or ‘reflected’ the rectangles in the borders. It’s all machine quilted using the walking foot with many hours burying threads because I did not want to quilt over the thin sashing. o The binding was made from bias strips cut 3 ¼” (heavy) and finishes at ½” to match the width of the sashing and bias tape. It was attached by machine to the front and hand sewn to the back. The quilt was blocked before the binding was applied. o All materials 100% cotton including Aurifil 50 wt. thread for the piecing and quilting, and Warm & White batting. Backing is Kaffe Fassett Paperweight in Lime. o The Reflector quilt measures 35” x 40” and is ready for that precious new baby or the wall.
