Victorian Gable end Great Ayton.
This gable previously had a render removal done,a lot of bricks were damaged and cement residue left over the brickwork. It had then been repointed using lime mortar really poorly which was badly failing.
A lot of work went into it to bring it back to a good looking gable end. Now its how it should look.

To all my future customers be aware that over the last few years Priory Restoration has seen a sharp increase in customers requesting me to come and put jobs right that they have had recently done and these photos are to be used as a reference so you all know the difference between a bad repointing job and a good one.
The first 5 photos on here are of supposed lime repointing that have been done poorly. Photo number 6 shows that even cement repointing can go wrong with little experience of repointing.
Now this standard of work might be perfectly acceptable to some who are after trying to save a few pound but if you want your home looking as good as it did when it was first built give Priory Restoration a call.
Lime repointing is completely different to cement and a lot more work go’s into it so be careful what you pay for because saving a few pound might cost a lot more.

Bellister Caste. A few photos from a project for the national trust Priory Restoration worked on. Bellister is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and dates back to the 14th century. The cement pointing was removed and replaced with lime mortar to allow damp to escape. Stonework unfortunately could not be cleaned with it being a Grade 1 listed building.
