The Monday morning after a wedding is always confusing for me. I spend my time trying to take things slow while simultaneously wanting to do ALL THE THINGS all at once. Can anyone else relate?! I’m choosing to spend my time slowly laying out my week ahead while prepping a blog post that will be going live a few weeks from today! (Advanced content planning is paying off, y’all! 🙌🏼) Maaaaybe I’ll make my way down to @traderjoes later this afternoon for a little brain break because #realtalk this girl is fresh out of real food. This weekend, I got to travel to Pittsburgh to second shoot a wedding with @savannahsmithphoto, and oh my goodness, what a JOY it was! This time of year is a little quieter for us wedding photogs. I spend lots of time behind the computer and not as much time behind the camera. It was such a treat to be able to love on a sweet couple during their celebration, and it felt so GOOD to have a camera back in hand again! Feeling full of gratitude this morning for a job that I love so very much 💕 Shot while second shooting for @savannahsmithphoto
A few weeks ago, I put up a post, asking if y’all would want to see more “tours” of DC on the blog... I’ve had a list of things to do in DC living in the back of my planner for ages now, and it hasn’t really gotten as much love as it should! I really want to change that, and I found out that y’all really did want to see more of DC too! Even more so? You wanted to come ALONG with me on the adventure... literally! I got tons of comments and messages about organizing walks, and I was so blown away! First, I wanted to let you know that my very first tour is live on the blog! I got to wander through the stalls of Union Market this weekend, and I think my life may be forever changed after trying my first arepa! Now... the exciting news?! I got so many comments and messages from my sweet friends and industry connections about wanting to go exploring that I literally couldn’t keep track of them all. Let’s be honest, adventures are WAY more fun with friends which is why... DRUM ROLL PLEASE 🥁#WanderingtheDistrict was born! This is a casual Facebook community where everyone that wants in on this adventure can come connect! I’m sharing more details over on the blog and in the Facebook group, so head there for more info! In the meantime, you should know that there will be one “official” walk per month as we kick things off! You can bring your big camera, your small camera, your iPhone camera, your video camera, your brand new film camera, your mind’s eye… you get the picture! You don’t have to be a professional photographer to come along, and you most certainly can bring along your non-professional photographer friend if they want to join too! I know there are plenty of other incredible groups out there that do something very similar to this, but I recognized how excited y’all were, and I wanted to extend an opportunity for you to join me in this adventure! I know y’all will help make this something special!! SO... Happy Friday!! Join me in this adventure (and get a sneak peek inside Union Market!) by tapping the link in my profile! I am SO excited!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!!! 💕 I couldn’t resist bringing back one of my favorite blog posts from last year to celebrate! Last year, I chatted with my sweet friend, @savannahsmithphoto, about a fun way to celebrate the holiday with our online fam... I have to admit, I love holidays, but Valentine’s Day definitely isn’t my favorite one. So... we came up with the idea to share 14 things that we were absolutely LOVING at that very moment! I remember having SO much fun putting the list together that I had to repeat the tradition this year! From my favorite tea, to what I’m watching on TV right now, to the biz apps that keep my life together... I’m sharing 14 of my current faves over on the blog! Do we have anything in common?! Link is in my profile!! If you need me for the rest of the day, I’ll be humming “My Favorite Things” while diving into a bag of Dove Chocolate! 📷: @mandakeikoroosh
Just the sweetest first look reaction to brighten up your Wednesday morning! I’m finally talking about something that I’ve wanted to talk about for a while now... I hear this at almost every wedding: “___ better cry when they see ___!” This is always in reference to the first time the couple sees each other, and it typically is coming from someone in the wedding party or a family member! The truth? This pressure is TOTALLY unfair to put on someone on their wedding day! Because that reaction up there?! No tears, and absolutely the sweetest jaw drop in the WORLD! It was just the PERFECT moment for Kait & Dan! There is a brand new wedding planning post up on the blog today where we’re diving into a little bit of #realtalk when it comes to first looks! Misconceptions and what I think EVERY couple needs to keep in mind... Tune into the link in my profile to dive into the truth about first looks! 💕 #CKPcouple
Today’s introduction is a special one... one that I don’t think I’ve ever done before! We can do introductions on a Tuesday, right? I’ve been spending my day bopping between studios, teaching barre class after barre class! In short... I look nothing like this 👆🏼and am looking a little more like spandex and a sweaty ponytail 🙈 I’m currently on a little break between classes number 2 and 3 of the day and wanted to pop into your feed to say hello! If you didn’t know, in addition to being a full time wedding photographer, I am also a fitness instructor! I wanted to share a little bit about this part of my life with you today... because it isn’t often that I do so in these squares! - I’ve been teaching fitness for close to five years now... I started when I was 19! I am so thankful for my fit fam and all that they have given me! I originally got into fitness because I wanted to encourage others... but it turns out this journey has poured even more into my life than I could have ever expected. It’s brought me some of my best friends, most treasured memories & a community in a city where I felt so alone to just name a few things. - I’ve been teaching #FlyBarre for @flysportsdc for over two and a half years now. I realized this morning that I’m teaching my 700th classes sometime this week or next... Time sure does FLY when you’re having fun. (Pun intended 😉) - I keep a giant library of music for classes in one Spotify playlist. Over the last 2.5 years, I’ve collected over 4 DAYS worth of music! I sort the big playlist by song length and create shorter playlists for every class from there! If you are ever in need of some workout jams, find me on Spotify (CaityKramer38!). All of my smaller class playlists should be public for you to listen to! - I could go on and on and on here, but I’m literally running out of caption room! (Maybe this is calling for a follow up post?!) DC pals: If you ever want to come try a class, send me a message! I would love to have you in class as my guest 💕 📷: @savannahsmithphoto
Raise your hand if you too spent this dreary Monday morning dreaming of warmer days, spring flowers & plenty of sunshine 🙋🏼♀️ I’ve got a hot peach green tea in hand, and I’m getting my calendar in line for the week ahead! I’ve been trying my hardest to organize my week first thing on Monday mornings, and it is making the biggest difference! I lay out my big tasks and schedule out when everything will happen in my Day Designer. It sounds a little tedious, but I find that going into the week with my game plan helps to keep me motivated & moving on everything that needs to get done! First up today: emails, social media planning & blog prep! What are you up to this week?!
I’m writing about something that I don’t think I have EVER shared about before: being a second photographer!! Last year alone, I photographed 22 weddings as a second photographer and also got to work with so many amazing second photographers while I was photographing my own weddings! From being on both sides of the relationship, I wanted to share a few of my favorite tried and true tricks to help you be a better second photographer! Whether you are just getting started as a second photographer or are looking for a few ways to improve after a couple of seasons, today’s blog post is for you! In today’s #FridayChatter, I’m breaking down FOUR things that you can do to become a better second photographer! I hope you find it helpful and encouraging! Link is in my bio 💕 📷: @savannahsmithphoto
