Cue the confetti! Pump up the music! Join our little dance party, because our new wedding photography website is LIVE! @daveyandkrista created the most beautiful space for our work and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! Thanks to @showit for being the best website host a girl could ask for. They make launch day feel like a picnic...and speaking of picnics, they are one of our favorite things so we are giving away a basket with some picnic treats (wine gift card anyone?) for helping us get the word out! Comment and tag a friend to be entered or share this post in your stories for an extra entry! Give away ends next Wednesday so there’s plenty of time to spread the news! 🎉
On our new website (launching this week!) I wanted to share a little more of our family since they are such a big part of why we have this business. My sweet friend @pureinart came over this weekend to capture a few images for us. There were so many keepers, but this one is my favorite. We are one of those touchy-feely families with lots of snuggles, “I love yous” and we never turn down a puppy cuddle. This is us. And I couldn’t be more excited to share more when the site goes live this week! Seems fitting to share this today since it’s #nationaldogday 🐕 ❤️

Today I’ve been thinking back on our summer of travel and feeling so thankful for our time with these people right here. I love my family very much and I’m especially fond of these three that we don’t see nearly often enough. Next time I get to cuddle my niece she will be a year old! How great is it that we get to live in a time where we can get instant updates and see each other in real-time thanks to technology?
These 4 are why I left teaching and began to pursue the entrepreneurial life full time. I wanted the freedom that came from choosing when and where I worked. I wanted time. This month marks 8 years as a full-time business owner, and 10 years in business. The learning curve of being an entrepreneur has been more of a squiggly line rather than a steady climb. There have been many failures along with success and joys, but through it all, we have what we wanted when we started this. TIME. We are taking kid #2 on a mom and dad trip this weekend. He was up before the sun, making sure we were packed, the house-sitter’s bed was made and coffee was poured and ready. We are ready to celebrate 11 years of Franklin. California, here we come!
You know those moments when you KNOW you should be posting on Instagram but trying to decide what to say causes word paralysis? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yeah, I’ve been there. Truth is, I’ve been there for a few days now. I much prefer when my caption has something to say, when it tells a story. Sometimes social media can feel like a oneway conversation, showing pretty work and hoping our friends will tell us we are beautiful. Let’s be honest...we’ve all had a friend like that and they can be a little draining to be around, right? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m starting a list of prompts to help me stay focused on telling stories that matter. I’ll let you know when it’s finished, so my friends can use it too. I think social media can be a powerful tool to build relationships, to share about your mission and let others know about your business. We just need to be better about what we are saying. I really wish I was back in Paris, sitting in a cafe with a warm croissant and an espresso, but alas, I’m up before the sun sipping coffee and making a dent in my to-do list. I didn’t mean to be so quiet the last few weeks on social media. I know using these platforms should be a scheduled business task, after all, it’s how I communicate with most of you, but for me, social media has always been...well...social. Which means it gets neglected when life gets busy. I tuck my head down and work using social outings as my reward when the work is done...but the thing is, it is rarely done. The only thing that results from this pattern is overwhelm. I am trying to remember the lessons learned in Paris, which was to slow down, allow for rest, and to enjoy moments connecting with others. I think I’m a slow learned...guess I’ll have to go back for another lesson! Thanks to @melissaivyphotography for snapping this shot of me at the #reparisretreat
I have loved this boy for 11 years today. That feels like such a big number. 11 years of laughing at his antics, 11 years of worrying about his adventurous spirit and his fearless nature (“hey mom, how old do I have to be to jump off the roof into the pool?”) 11 years of watching him always strive for his best, and 11 years of soothing his frustration when he doesn’t get it perfect on the first try. If I were to sum Franklin up in one word, it would PASSION. He chases every interest with fervor, loving people deeply and with fierce loyalty. Happy Birthday son. I am so thankful to be your mama.
At every wedding, session, or even in our day to day life, when I pick up my camera, my goal is to capture an image that makes me catch my breath. This was that photo for me from our vineyard wedding inspiration shoot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Styling @crainandcoevents / florals @eastland_alley / Hair and Makeup @disposable_art_ for @hvhfaces / Gown @jbridalboutique / invitations @briedumaisdesigns / model @bridgette.l.slagis
