• When the sunlight used to hit me like this.. 🌻 Did you know that I've only been working as a DevOps Big Data Engineer for 10 months? Prior to that, I was a Software Engineer for 9 months. When I came into tech, I knew I would be on a journey of self-discovery within myself and my career direction. I'm paving my own path, by God's grace but I can see my goal at the end of the tunnel. The creative ADHD, artistic, imaginative brain I was gifted with wants to explore how Big Data can be used in creative ways &, believe it or not, it's possible. At some point in the future, I'd have to invest in learning about Machine Learning and AI but the first thing for me is Augmented Reality. I've touched on it on and off all year.   • Being a woman, a black woman, an African woman, a Congolese woman and one in the tech industry, it is only right to use my platform to bring important issues to light. Let me break down some of them: 🇨🇩 ➡️ In light of the #AppleEvent, you may not be aware that their devices use materials mined by children in the Congo. @Apple and many other tech companies & governments have the power to end it but companies profit off of this even though this creates wars and suffering in Congo DR. There have also been attacks in Eastern Congo by rebel groups. Thousands have been displaced & many have been killed. 🇳🇬➡️ SARS is an Special Anti-Robbery Squad; a division of the Nigerian Police who have been abusing their power. They have been responsible for wrongful arrests of Nigerian citizens, murder, sexual assault and more yet no-one has been held to account. Protests have been held all over the world to end the division. 🇿🇦🇳🇦➡️ South Africa and Namibia have been protesting their ongoing rage over gender-based violence. Anti-femicide protesters have been voicing their anger, there have been many victims of femicide. Being a woman is the only thing that could result in the loss of your life. How can you help? Beginning of lockdown, I told myself I would be posting new YouTube videos, get AWS Certified, finish one of my personal projects, book more speaking opportunities but life is unpredictable and everyone is different. So if you didn't finish a project or a course that you said you would beginning of lockdown, don't feel any sort of embarrassment and don't compare yourself to someone who has.
