“The beguiling character of Miffy, or nijntje (pronounced nein-chye, meaning little bunny), first emerged in 1955 in a night time story told by a father to his young son while on holidays in the small Dutch seaside village of Egmond aan Zee.” Writes ‘miffy & friends’ curator Vanessa Van Ooyen “Miffy grew out of love: a father’s love of his son, a love of the imagination and most importantly, a love of art. Some 65 years after she appeared, this enduring affection persists—Miffy is, simply, loved.” Read Vanessa’s essay in the exhibition publication ‘miffy & friends’ available to purchase when you visit the exhibition. Exhibition open Tue - Sun, 10am - 5pm until 13 June. Entry free. _ 'miffy and friends' is a @qutartmuseum travelling exhibition, curated by Vanessa Van Ooyen _ Publication cover image: Dick BRUNA, 'miffy', Illustration Dick Bruna © copyright Mercis bv, 2008 Special thanks to our presenting partner @oranaclydenorth

Join us at the Gallery to experience 'miffy and friends’ an exhibition that brings the work of Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna to Australia for the first time. First created by Bruna as a bedtime story for his son in 1955, Miffy embodies a universal language of minimalism and timeless simplicity. Bruna’s work sits alongside work by Australian artists Stephen Bird, Sadie Chandler, Nadia Hernández, Carla McRae, Nell, Brian Robinson, and Vipoo Srivilasa. _ 'miffy and friends' is a @qutartmuseum travelling exhibition, curated by Vanessa Van Ooyen. _ @carla_mcrae, @nando_nandez, @vipooart, #brianrobinson, @nellartist, @sadie.chandler, @stephen_bird_artist _ Image: Dick BRUNA 'miffy at the gallery' Illustration Dick Bruna © copyright Mercis bv, 1990 _ Special thanks to our presenting partner @oranaclydenorth _ #miffy #miffyandfriends #dickbruna #qutartmuseum #melbournegalleries #miffyBP #visitvictoria #visitmelbourne #victoria
