The new building for @salthealthnwa invites members to enter a spa type atmosphere, equipped with exercise classes, massage therapy, open gym, luxury saunas, as well as exclusive access to a primary care physician and dietitians and nutritionists. The exterior is intriguing and sculptural yet simple, through its honest expression of natural materials emerging from the earth. Upon entry, the interior is soft and calming. Himalayan salt is incorporated throughout as a core material, highlighted by warm woods and neutral colors. Natural light floods both public and private zones, while maintaining optimal privacy for members. The collective team of Bockus Payne, Neely+Queen, and Krone Construction were tasked to create a resort style home reminiscent of a modern lodge, equipped with both transformable entertainment zones and serene personal space for family down time. Bockus Payne developed a personalized structure that became the springboard of inspiration for the project. Neely+Queen aimed to compliment, and whenever appropriate, enhance the architecture. The goal was to create a cohesive design that would be seamless from the curbside through to even private areas of the home. A red steel truss with a Thorncrown connection detail creates a distinct entry element and brand identity of the home which periodically appears throughout. The truss flows progressively through transparent glass into the interior, offering abstract pops of color and sculptural elegance.
