Year 6 have been exploring the work of Victorian designer William Morris. In this lesson, pupils studied Morrisβ detailed nature-inspired patterns before creating their own designs using a relief printing technique on polystyrene tiles.
Using tracing paper and careful pencil work, pupils transferred floral designs and then pressed them into the tiles to create raised printing surfaces. This process helped them understand how repeating patterns and decorative motifs are created in traditional wallpaper printing.
The finished tiles show a wide range of intricate botanical designs, reflecting the careful observation and craftsmanship that Morris championed through the Arts and Crafts movement.

In Nursery, the children have been learning about how living things grow and change. Through the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, they explored the life cycle of a caterpillar and learned how it transforms into a butterfly. The story helped the children think about how animals grow and change over time, while also building their curiosity about the natural world around them. ππ¦
At @bevingtonw10, our Nursery children are introduced to early scientific ideas through stories, discussion and exploration, helping them begin to understand the world they live in.
