• ⭐ CONGRATULATIONS Christine Winch. You're our Ashford Applause Champion!⭐ 🧡 Christine is part of a volunteer team in Bethersden; each week the team takes nominations from people in the village to receive either a food box, a meal voucher from a local pub, or a wellbeing gift. 🧡 Since the start of April, Christine and her family spend every Tuesday morning in the Bethersden Scout and Guide Hut where they make up to 70 boxes of food and gifts a week. What’s more, Christine came up with the idea of delivering a gift bag filled with tea, cake and bunting, to elderly residents in the village so they could enjoy and celebrate Victory in Europe Day at home.   • Wow! Today we are thrilled to announce that we've received an incredible donation to our VERA fund, taking us over the £10,000 total we set out to achieve. This donation was made by the Countryside Properties Community Fund, who have also been active in the area by supporting one of Ashford's family foodbanks. Thank you @countrysideprop for supporting our community through this extraordinary time; your donation will make a huge difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents who are still having to face the effects of the pandemic on a daily basis.   • Have you spotted one of these yet? 👀 Following messages from residents about issues they’ve been having with dog fouling in certain areas we’ve launched the #doitforyourdog campaign to encourage those few who don’t clean up their pet's mess to think again. Given the current circumstances, it’s more important than ever to keep our outside spaces clean and pleasant. If keeping your community spaces clean and tidy isn’t an incentive enough, those caught failing to pick up their pets could receive an on the spot fine! Don’t worry the spray isn’t toxic and won’t damage animals, humans or the environment however not picking up after your pet can have deadly consequences, so make sure you bag it and bin it! #keepashfordclean #keepkentclean #keepbritiantidy #dogfouling

Our third Ashford Applause Champion! ⭐ Shane has a full time job at Canterbury Hospital but he still finds the time to go out of his way to help his neighbour and her family during this uncertain time. - Shane’s neighbour and friend, Maria Batcheller, nominated Shane for the award. She said: “I am heavily pregnant and my other half works full time which means it is very hard for us to get the supplies we need from the shops. Shane doesn’t like to see me going to the shops and risking myself and my baby. He asks for my shopping list and gets it all for us, with no bother at all. He has a fiancé and 4 kids at home but he is still looking out for others and their needs. He definitely deserves this award!” 🧡Thank you for your commitment and for being a superb Ashford community inspiration.🧡
